ive been on doxy for 2 weeks now. 300mg.
from day one i got mild itching and mild shortness or breath. I dealt with it and its still something i feel every day.

Now....on day 14 i feel aloooot of tightness/pressure/discomfort throught my chest....on both sides of the chest.

Since I felt the itching/breathing issues shortly after my very first pill i believe this is allergic reaction, not a herx.

Should I stop taking?
I was told to add Biaxin and continue on the doxy at my 2 wk mark.....should i drop the doxy?

My LLMD in SF says they are not an advice line so i shouldnt call her. LOL I dont get it...she's very reputable and who the hell else are we suppose to ask!

Did this doctor write the prescription for these drugs? If yes, then guess what? They are an advice line. Questions like this need to be answered by the person prescribing those drugs. You have the law on your side for that.

I'm sorry this happened. I'd find a new doctor tomorrow.

You have to be able to discuss whatever you are going through with your doctor!!! So either this one or another one.

i started doxy, 200 mg, 8 days ago and i am experiencing the shortness of breath thing..no itchiness but the shallow breathing woke me up this morning and scared me a bit..i didnt think about the cause being the abx but maybe it is

ty's mom.....yours sounds more like a herx.....panic needs to call the dr about a possible allergic reaction.

Panic....maybe you could call the pharmacist and then call your LLMD. Tell her what the pharmacist said. [which will probably be stop the meds!]

No, it's not silly to be happy. A very normal response when one has been searching and searching for the answer to their problems!

Hooray for the improved neuropathy symptoms! Now ... There WILL be ups and downs. Don't get discouraged, OK?

Hi panicbegone,

I had tightness in my chest and shortness of breath form a herx, but I never experienced itching with it.

Ditto with calling the doctor about a possible allergic reaction.

Feel better soon.
