My teenage daugher has had severe back pain since October. She's tried several combinations of pain killers without success.
She was just given a Rx for Lyrica and Lamictal. I hope it works! Our LLMD says his patients have been amazed at how these work. He said the pain is caused by nerve damage.
No tests have been done to rule out other causes of her back pain. She has been recently diagnosed with bartonella, in addition to Lyme.
My husband also has Lyme and has a chronic ache in his lower back. He injured his back, but it healed. Now he has this lingering dull ache.
Have any of you had success with this combination of drugs?
I'll let you know if the Lyrica & Lamictal work.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
Ok, it's been 6 days of continous, non stop hard core pain! ten times worse than my c section I swear. IT HURTS TO SIT, TO LIE DOWN, i CAN NOT MAKE IT STOP. I had surgery two days ago for stomach ulcers due to all the meds I am on and the morhine they gave me didn't touch it.
I believe it's the lyme for sure, I am just concerned how long it's going to last cause I can't even get out of bed to take of my 5 year old.
Good news is I am meeting my LLDM doctor tomorrow to set a start date for my PICC line and then a year of Rocephin. Having pulse therapy, and he is going to treat the babesia more aggresivly as the count for it that came back from the testing was at the highest possible.
Thanks all,
debs : )

My mom takes Lyrica for peripheral neuropathy. When she tried to go off it, her pain symptoms immediately returned. She was amazed at how much pain she had been putting up with before taking it.
Pain can interfere with daily living, and add to fatigue. Some people may prefer to not treat their pain, in order to better gauge if their Lyme treatment is working. However, if the pain is overwhelming, it may be worth it to consult with your LLMD and/or a pain specialist about reducing the pain enough to get your life back.
