I was bitten by a tick approximately fifteen years ago in Westchester County, NY.
Had the bullseye rash but the tick had fallen out on its own.
Went to a general MD who told me not to worry unless the rash spread upward.
He put me on Keflex for a week.
Except for some unexplained fatigue and perhaps some cognitive issues from time to time I did not have any symptoms either immediately after being bitten or over the years.
To make a long story short,about 18 months ago I developed some unexplained neurological symptoms(muscle twitching,muscle weakness,vision problems etc.etc.).
Without going into further detail can Lyme disease remain dormant for that long and then suddenly emerge?
Had other diseases ruled out so far and had the basic Lyme disease test which came back negative.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

So sorry you are having these symptoms, but hopefully you will be feeling better soon.
Yes, Lyme disease can remain dormant and then suddenly emerge. Lyme disease is a clinical diagnosis as the tests are not 100% accurate. I suggest you seek out a LLMD. If you would like some information regarding a LLMD, we need to send you an PM or email.

Your story is one we hear nearly every day around here. It's very common for the spirochetes to go dormant.
It's also VERY common for a test from an ordinary lab to show a false negative.
I ditto the call for you to get tested through Igenex Labs ASAP!!
Here is some info. You can post in Seeking a Doctor to find a dr near you (i hope!) who is well-versed in diagnosing and treating Lyme disease.

Yes. Lyme can remain dormant for a very long time. I also second the suggestions to find a LLMD & also get tested at ingenex. Here's their webb site . www.igenex.com
Lyme tests, even the best ones are not fail proof. Lyme disease still remains a clinical diagnosis. There are many reasons why you can still have lyme & test engative. Here's a link:
