Hi,

Wondering if anyone here is seeing / has seen Dr. H. in NY (Hyde Park / Catskills), and what your thoughts are?

Best,

canbravelyme.

If that is R.H., I think he is very good based on my interactions with him at various conferences. Seems to cover all the necessary aspects, heavy metals, etc.

I just called his office, and Dr. H. is not accepting new patients, but I could be seen by the Nurse Practitioner, and Dr. H. does come in to consult during the appt. at some point. The cost of the appointment is comparable with seeing Dr. R. Probably I'm better off with Dr. R.?

If you mean B.R., either is good. I do not think that the decision will impact your end results in terms of success or failure. Both are competent doctors.

I went for 2 years, but the 3 hour drive each way and the expense was very stressful - luckily we found a local GP willing to continue treatment.

Most patients end up with one of the AP's - and Dr. H. does indeed come in for the first one or two visits, to oversee everything.

They wanted us to go in every month & have blood work every month: another stress for me.

What we learned (3 of us went together): they ask you to take a lot of meds all at once and you will want to work out a slow introduction to the meds, so ask if they do not suggest it!

And if you have to pay for your Rx as I do, you might want to ask for samples or small amounts prescribed at a time, at first: I could not tolerate Mepron and that cost me $2000.00 and that is a lot of money to waste.

Everyone there is very nice, no one will rush you through your visit tho' you may have to wait for your turn, and the best place to eat is the Eveready Diner down the road on Rt. 9!

Do plan ahead: make a list of dates & treatments & symptoms, as you will be asked a lot of questions. And they will take a lot of blood too. Bring some water & snacks with you.

They also ask you to follow a diet & take a lot of supplements: again, be ready to think about your budget because you will feel overwhelmed; if in doubt, go home & think about it. Your mind will be whirling when you leave, so take notes & ask them to write htings down for you as well.

And yes, they will help you get better!

I should have said: don't worry about seeing one of the APs and not Dr. H., as they consult him on everything & he checks in on what they are doing, and there have actually been times when we were happier with one of the APs.

You will get the same care because he has strict guidelines on how his APs operate and they will leave the room to go consult with him if they feel the need. Dr. H. will be watching over you.

I'm very happy with Dr H. I too have mostly seen the NP but she is very good as well and consults with him.It certainly isn't cheap and they will push you to purchase their supplements.

I take their advice on the suplements but have found most of them cheaper on the internet.Due to financial limits I have to weigh which supplements I have to have and what I can afford, sometimes a tough choice.

They have tested me for things that my old LLMD, Dr B, never mentioned and have prescribed meds I have never tried before, so perhaps a new perspective is good.

One thing I can say is that this Dr was highly recommended to me as being one of the best.

Prior to Dr B I wasted a lot of time and good health by choosing my LLMD based on convience and cost. If you have the opportunity to see the best and you can somehow afford it I highly recommend that you do.

good Luck to you
Sue

Hi,

I have heard that Dr. H in Hyde Park is wonderful and extremely helpful, also Dr. B R., who may be in Conn., or NY now.

Both come highly recommended!

Go for it!

He's one of the most adept & comprehensive LLMDs but he could really use a NYC office. [Wink]

My husband and I travel to Dr. H's group. We have been there three times. Previously I was Dr. B's patient and before that a few LLMDs in NJ. Dr.H is very thorough and comprehensive. He looks at everything. His Physician's assistant is wonderful and a wealth of knowledge. There are 2 and we go to the female. If you are going to try and get better this is the place to go.
