I think I took about every drug to combat bart, but I found that the septra/ketek mix did the trick.
What does everyone think? Maybe levaquin is not the anwser.

did you try rifampin? If so, what was your experience?

I've heard Ketek is good, but my LLMD has had to pull all his patients off of it due to liver problems.

We are doing the zithromax/rifampin combo. It's a tenacious bug. Glad the ketek combo worked for you.

Glad you found something that works. I've heard of others having some benefit from Ketek for TBDs other than Lyme.

Ketek damaged my liver. Levaquin damaged my Achilles Tendons. I'm on Rifampin now and praying for the best.

Zith is sometimes used to treat pediatric patients for Bart, so it was another option we were considering (I'm no child, but sensitive to meds).

rifampin worked well for me. i have been on now for 2 1/2 months. only staying on 2 more weeks. however, it was very hard on my teeth. they were very stained.

Hubby had a good response from Ketek, but only took it for 6 weeks. I can't say that it did any more good than any other ABX, so I don't think it's worth the risk, given recent bad news about it.
Take care.

I was neg for bart test, but took mino/zith/flagyl for 10 months (ultimately pulsing at end) for lyme.

Bart symptoms came in the following few months after discontinuing.

So for me, the zith pushed it down, but did not eradicate it.

Now doing septra/mino.

It is a work in progress.

I am doing rifampin/zith/doxy for bart. I take rifampin m-f, zith on sat/sun and doxy every day. I have heard from others that they have tried this protocol as well. I am in week 9, 3 weeks more to go. I only take 300 mg rifampin-I can't tolerate more.

Septra made me herx, Levaquin and Rifampin didn't. But I took Septra first. And I was taking a macrolide at the time, it was either zith or ketek.
