Hi-

I am thinking of getting an infra-red sauna, basically for warming aching muscles and joints & for detox. (Can you believe that I have problems with typical saunas?) I did try a friend's out once and I liked it. Anyway, the thermal-life poplar type was recommended to me. anyone have any other thoughts as to brands--before I blow the bundle of dough!

thanks

Jif

What are the prices? Do they include shipping? Marnie reccomends LUXSAUNA.COM

I am researching too.

I have the luxsauna, I got mine over a year ago, its great. You can also call them, sometimes they have deals on "last years model" or some that are scratched.

Good luck,

These saunas are NOT recommended for use by anyone who is pregnant.

Additionally, it is important to drink a nice glass of a good (mineral rich) water BEFORE using the sauna.

It is important to shower afterwards.

I personally prefer a "wood" sauna due to the natural "antibacterial" aspect of wood.

Expectations:

Do NOT expect to feel like a million bucks after one day, one week, even one month of sauna use.

It is my understanding that it takes faithful use of the sauna for 20-30 minutes DAILY to be truly effective. In other words, skipping a day is OUT. Either be dedicated to your recovery or don't waste your money.

For unknown reasons, a 3 month time frame looks to be a turning point - not healed, but a turning point. The body heals slowly, not overnight.

For "newbies" who might be reading this discussion for the first time.

These saunas are APPROVED for use by those suffering with cerebral palsy (constant muscle contractions). Apparently they do indeed help to relax the muscles.

Fairly recent research (2005) indicates these saunas might also be considered to treat those with CFS.

And those suffering with chronic pain.

Is the infra-red radiation definitely safe. Has it been used for a long time or a new thing?
