My little one is getting diarrhea and complains her stomach hurts. I need to buy some more probiotics.
When is the best time to take probiotics when you're on a 3x a day antibiotic schedule?

2 hours after each abx dose give them probotics. This is what my LLMD told me to do.
It should help with the diarrhea. Plus don't forget Nystatin aslo very important.

Here's how we do it. Because of school and the three times a day dosing it isn't easy.
In the morning I give her a packet of florastor-Saccharomyces Boulardii with her abx-this is a yeast so it can be taken with abx. This is the yeast that showed promise in preventing and treating C.Diff.
I pack two chewable probiotics along with an ice pack for our daughter to take at lunch at school.
Before bed and at least two hours after her nightime dose of abx I give her another florastor packet and more acidophilous along with some Kefir.
Even with all this, I worry we aren't getting enough into her. My husband shoots for 100 billion a day. I don't know what the recommendations for kids are, though.

I don't have experience with children but I have been told to take the pro-biotics spaced at least 2 hours apart from abx. best time for me is at bedtime
And also to take the pro-biotics on an empty stomach-one hour before a meal. If you take them with food the stomach & bile acids released when you eat can kill the pro-biotics-they are very delicate.
I like the ones that say they can survive stomach acid & are released in the intestines where they do the most good. I get the pro-biotic pearls from vitacost among others.
It is a tricky spacing problem with the abx & food ect.. but if you write out a schedule it may help figure out when are the best times.
Hope this helps Take care Dana

we went through this one ..
in addition to the great scheduling tips above, just want to note that kefir can be breakfast or dessert in-and-of itself, which helps. just try and space the breakfast as far from the AM dose as you can.
if they don't take abx at school at lunchtime, (which i wouldn't suggest as the schools are very Lyme-ignorant and this could develop into an area of question down the line) -- then sending acidophillus to school for lunch is a good idea. however, for the same reason mentioned above, and many schools require notes (disclosure) for any supplement capsules as well as script, maybe kefir can be lunch? (or, next best, a yoghurt or smoothie packed with live acidophilus powder)
maintaining medical privacy when treating Lyme early on, even if the 'school is great' right now, maintaining reasonable medical privacy (they know child is in treatment from doctor notes, but aren't doling out meds and supplements) with schools is very important, should problems arise later and/or the condition becomes chronic.

If you get Theralac, which is a wonderful probiotic, they can remain unrefridgerated for up to 30 days.
I keep mine in the fridge, but when I travel for a week, I take the number of pills I need.
So you can carry them with you, or your daughter, during the day if you need.

It is mu understanding that it should be 2+ hours away from antibiotics, with bedtime a target time to do.
