My LLMD had another wester blot done by Igenex becasue my first one was neg. He put me on a combination abx and said this may change your bands. My fist WB came out
IGM 30+ 31IND 39+ 41IND
IGG 30+ 39IND 41+++ 58+
Now my WB is IGM 23-25+ 30+ 39+ 41IND 66+ 83-93IND
IGG 39IND 41++
My Question is why so many for my IGM pos. and IGG only two. Does this mean that my body is still making antibodies for the bacteria and it
is still fairly active? I read in the newbie link under wb explation in chronic cases IGM is more pos. than IGG, so has this infection become chronic?
Also, my CD57 jumped from 50 to 90 from the first wb to the second one. So, it seems that I am healing from that score. Not sure then why my IGG would not be more postive? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Marcie

It could be chronic, but I don't know for sure since I'm not a doctor. It sounds like you read the Western Blot link? I'll post it again just in case you read a different one.
As for the CD57, I wouldn't rely on it very much. We had a poll here once asking what is your CD57 results and the numbers were all over the place.
People who felt great had results of 20 and some who felt horrible had a result of 200. I don't know why they bother with that test.
All in all, you should be treated with a Western Blot like yours. It was way more positive than mine was.
Don't forget, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis. You should go more by symptoms than by test results.

As you can see, you have MANY Lyme-specific bands! That means NOTHING else could have caused these bands to show up.

There could be a couple of reasons..
AN IgM antibody's life span is about 3 months.. so there's a possibility the blood was drawn too early (before IgGs were made).
OR
Lyme has sucessfully suppressed your lymphocytes (easy to see on a blood test - are they in mid range?) and you just aren't going to make many IgGs cuz Lyme has modulated your immune system.
But, IMO, the fact that you have made more IgMs- shows that the abx killed some lyme bacteria, or flushed some into your blood, so your immune system could recognize them - and had time to make some IgMs.

I hate to give you the bad news but you have Lyme borreliosis complex, the more correct name for the disease. It is a common misconception that the IGM is no good after a couple of months. Wrong!!. You have an IGM with a 39 kDa. 39 kDa is absolutely unique to Borrelia burgdorferi and is clear proof of the presence of the bacterium. Why else would you have that protein antibody/antigen complex in your body??? Good Luck. You are going to need it. Thomas Parkman
