why do you need a substitute? are you allergic to bicillin?

When my insurance company rejected it...I asked them for an alternative. They said there wasn't one. Bicillin LA is really expensive.

I took Bicillin for a short time, and then my llmd added Adoxa and I noticed alot of improvements.

So I dropped the Bicillin and only did Adoxa, and felt much better.

Even though it's frustrating you might want to try orals if you haven't before.

Insurance companies are not to play "doctor" in deciding which medication is correct for your situation. If you policy states it doesn't cover bicillin that is one thing (get a copy of your policy and read it).

Do a search on "Insurance Appeals" in "general support" on lymenet, using my member number and you'll get some info on how to deal with insurance companies.

Good luck....Timaca

ps...because I refused to give up, my insurance ended up covering my ENTIRE 6 1/2 months of IV rocephin, and it is now covering my bicillin injections. Yes, there are hoops to jump through. They expect most people to not jump.
