lately, last month or so, since ive been on the brunner core protocol, i have noticed that my

eyes(all around the eye) have been swelling at night. and in the morning their sore and painful.

this seems to last all day and no cream makes it better. it actually seems to make the under of my eyes sting.

and its been hella cold here in wva and when my eyes water my eyes(underneath) will literally burn and there is red patches underneath.

it looks like the tears have acid in them or something and are burning through the skin and causeing really dry red patches that ache all day.

makes my eyes have even darker circles( i didnt even know they could be any darker than they have been)

can tears have acid from all the toxins??
has anyone else experienced this??
what makes it go away??

any advice or comments would be much appreciated..
thank you in advance!

I am not on that protocol, however, I can relate to the swollen eye thing.

Prior to being dx with Lyme, I noticed my eyes were swelling (almost like I had pink eyes), and I had black rings under them.

I don't get to cry often (it upsets my two small children), so I don't know about the burning tears.

I do have burning under my eyes when I apply makeup or facial cream.

My eye swelling got better on Doxy. I am being treated for babs now, off of doxy. My eye swelling is coming back. I can no longer see my top lids.

Hope this helps....even a little.

I don't have any dark circles or red patches, but for many years now my eyes have teared up and run a lot, especially at night, and the tears burn so bad that I have no more eyelashes at the corners of my eyes. The tears burned them right off.

The only medical person to address this issue, as far as I know, is Dr. Paul St. Amand, who is an FMS specialist, and believes Fibromyalgia (which IMO, is often really Lyme) is caused by a kidney defect that makes it impossible for us to excrete phosphates. He says burning tears are one way the body tries to make up for this and get rid of the excess phosphates.

I was intrigued and strictly followed his tx protocol for 10 months with zero results back when I was dx'd with FMS. It involves the careful avoidance of all salycilates and the taking Guaifenesin tablets.

If you had a previous dx of FMS you might look into this tx and give it a try. Some swear by it. Even though it did not help me, and avoiding salycilates is a major hassle, it won't hurt you, unlike many other protocols. Guaifenesin is available OTC.

My eyes tear/burn in a way that feels distinctly like acid, just as you describe. For me, it happens during a die-off phase.
