Has anyone ever wondered why when your doctor orders lab tests or medical tests, you aren't told the costs, even though you have to pay for them?

I want to check out what MDLab tests costs, or from whatever lab, IGeneX, LabCorp, Quest, but none of them list prices. Is there any other thing we purchase that mysteriously doesn't list prices?

BTW, does anyone know how much MDLab tests for mycoplasma cost?

Best to call each lab and tell them the exact tests and they will give you a price. Often you can get a discount if you pay for the whole thing when you send in your blood work. Works well if insurance does not pay.

You can also find out if there is a DAT (Direct Access Testing) lab near you. If not, you can get some tests online without a doctor's request.

I found out about this when I went to one of my local drawing stations. I have to have a CBC and Comprehesive Metabolic Panel done every month because I'm on IM Rocephin. I only have to pay $44.00 in all for these two tests.

Online would have been a little cheaper except you have to pay a lab for the blood draw, so it probably works out to be the same cost.

I would have paid $200.00 at other labs. It's worth looking into.
