I talked to the llmd about it and he said its decently common, but its not a migraine i dont think, i have never had one. I just dont know what to do nothing really helps, i take a vicodin and it doesnt help. Help please!!!!

brian, do you were prescription glasses? my axis moves in my glasses since i have 4 pair; each for a specific task, and causes terrible migraine headaches. if yes, see optomitrist to check axis on your eye glasses.

also, see my newbie links and treepatrols links; i know there is info there. later...

i'm no a dr.; just my personal experience.

The only thing that helped me with those kinds of headaches were Asprin/Codeine (NOT tylenol) The asprin thin the blood and helped with blood flow in the brain. For some reason though plain asprin did nothing so who knows...

But everyone is different and you have to figure out what works for you.

Hope it stops soon,
Lisi

this actually was what pushed me to go to the doc finally to find out i had either been reinfected or had a major relapse

i had severe pains on the side and back of my head. felt like it was almost in the brain under the skull.

it was aweful and scared the begeezis outta me..
when i finally figured out it was the lyme i was so relieved(for lack of a better context) because the scariest thing was not knowing why in the world that could be happening.

i take percocet for it. it seems to help a little.
also magnesium and ginkgo.

but atleast you know ur not alone.

but after the pain came the terrible head pressure. that was the worst!

It's probably nerve pain. I used to have that too! Nothing really helped....except treatment with abx and it finally cleared.

Have you had an MRI?

Have you been tested or treated for babesia?

Prescription Relpax helps me with bad headaches...increases blood flow to the brain.

But before you go putting a bandaid on it, I'd see about an MRI. For constant head pain it's a good precaution!

Good luck.

Hi Notkrazybrian!

I want to let you know how sorry I am you are having to go though this pain, especially when nothing seems to help!

My daughter has a similar headache, and has for over one year non-stop!

Last week we went to neurologist #4, a headache specialists. He is not llmd, but at least open to the idea that lyme or TBI is the cause. He gave her a new diagnosis of NDPH, New Daily Persistent Headache, and changed up some of her pain meds. Finally someone experienced with pain and not afraid to Rx pain meds!

He thinks this headache is caused by irritation or damage to one of the cranial nerves. At our next visit we will discuss a nerve block, if the new meds don't help enough. Neurontin and flexeril was helping some, but we changed neurontin to lyrica, plus other changes.

Check out http://headaches.about.com/od/otherheadpain/a/ndph.htm

Excert below:

What is new daily persistent headache?
To be diagnosed as NDPH, headache must last more than three months and be daily from within three days of onset.

It is bilateral, has a pressing/tightning (non-pulsing) quality, is mild to moderate in intensity, and is not aggravated by routine physical activity. Patients must also experience both of the following:

*photophobia, phonophobia or mild nausea
*and neither moderate or severe nausea nor
vomiting

In 2002, Li and Rozen conducted the largest study of NDPH to date based on 56 patients from the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia:

82% of patients knew the exact day their headache started.

In 30% of the patients, the onset of the headache occurred in correlation with an infection or flu-like illness.

38% of patients had a prior personal history of headache.

29% of patients had a family history of headache.

Accompanying symptoms:

68% reported nausea.

66% reported photophobia.

61% reported phonophoiba.

55% reported lightheadedness.

Imaging and laboratory testing was unremarkable except for an unusually high number of patients who tested positive for a past Epstein-Barr virus infection.

Good Luck! Keep searching for answers!

Hi Krazy

I used to get killer migrains --
doctors never gave me anything for
it so I never found anything that
really helped --

But here are a couple of things
that can help alittle --

Dont drink anything with caffinine in it-
if you are drinking coffie now you need
to stop -- but dont go Cold Turkey--

I did the Cold Turkey route and it was a
Very Big mistake -- Back off slowly

I had No Idea that caffine was so strong --

Caffine is Good to use in Headache
meds tho --

I used to have migrains at least 3 to 5
days a week --No Fun --

After treatment
I am mostly head ache free--AAAhhhh

I think Babs caused my head aches--

Hope this helps--Jay--

First, I would suggest and MRI to rule anything else out. Having Lyme does not mean there could not be something else going on.

I have had migraines for over 20 years. But I also had "other" headaches. Then a few years back I started to get these pains on the sides of my head. Usually the left side was the worst for me too. But they were not the same as migraines.

I would have a migraine with it and take meds and the migraine would go away, but not the other pain. I went months with it non-stop.

I do still get the pain, but not as often as I used to.

Not sure what helped it. I did chiropractor, massage therapy, the Lyme meds, diet change, detox, migraine meds., vitamins. I stopped caffeine for 4 months but now drink tea instead of coffee. I also had steroid injections in my neck to soften some bones that were tangling up my nerves.

I would probably start with the MRI and a massage therapist and chiropractor before you take meds that could cause other symptoms. I did that for a long time and you may not need it.

Also, try to figure out when they started and what meds you were taking at the time or any other changes in your life.

i get this too, terrible pain on the left side and back of head, many times starting in left eye and covers the whole left side, i was told it could be hemicrania continua, you can do a search for info about it, and i take indomethacin regularly on a daily basis, it seemed to help and cut down on severity of pain, but lately pain is getting worse again, i think taking the Indo daily maybe is losing its effect, hope you get some relief soon, i have babs and lyme and i didnt know it could also be because of the babs,
radha
