I have been disabled by chronic Lyme for over 16 years...I have done lots and lots of abx (both oral and i.v) and have to stay on abx to funciton and have done numerous alternative treatments...but I am still not recovered..or able to work or drive...I know I also have Babesia and am working on treating that too...
But my biggest problem seems to be with my Immune system...CD 57 marker hasn't budged much at all..and I never get any fevers etc with my herx's only pain- too many cytokines
Does anyone know of a product that is a good Immune Shifter that will upregulate the part of my Immune System that is downregulted....so my I.S. will start fighting the infections.
I don't tolerate Low Dose Naltrexone and vega testing showed that Helixor or Iscador injections weren't tolerated...
Please Help, Thanks Lisa

Heparin is an immune shifter. Not why I was given it, but an added plus for sure. I was on heparin for over 3 years for hypercoagulation and have been in a high state of remission for several years.

My CD57 is the pits so I shouldn't talk - but I have heard of some good immune-boosting results using medicinal mushroom supplements.
I think Dr. B's guidelines recommends one brand, but I've heard of others.
It's on my list of things to try to add when I'm not so sensitive to everything.

I, my kids and a few other local lymies are using Nutriferon from Shaklee. It is a plant based supplemet developed by the same scientist that discovered human interferon in the sixties. It's purpose is to support the immune system, particularly when challenged.
Every one of us now have normal or above normal CD 57 counts.
I do not selll the stuff, just use many of their products in my home for the last twenty years. Please feel free to go to the Shaklee website to look at Nutriferon to see if it rings a bell for you.
I would be glad to refer anyone to a distributor or help to find one in your area if you like.
The company has been around for fifty years and has excellent press....not a flash in the pan or drama based MLM. Just good products that work.
I showed my Nutriferon to my lyme doc and my endocrinologist and both said that it looks good, so why not....
Thanks, Carol Ann

I take it also. Haven't gotten my latest CD 57 results yet. Will post when I do. I have signed up with Shaklee to save some $$ on my own purchases.

Carol Ann and Robi,
May I ask what dosage of Nutriferon you take? Is there any interaction with any medication we should be aware of?
I have a good friend who is a Shaklee distributor and I think I'll go ahead and buy some and try it.
Thanks, Jill

I take two Nutriferon at bedtime every night.
I asked the physician at Shaklee about drug interactions and she said that she was not aware of any at that time. This was at the Shaklee convention last August in San Francisco. I signed up to see old friends from the east coast and to see Earth Wind and Fire at the closing dinner. They were fantastic!
Nutriferon is made up of...
Pumpkin Seed Extract Saflower Flower Extract Asian Plantain Seed Extract Japanese Honeysuckle Flower Extract
You can read research abstracts and studies at the Shaklee site posted above, one of which points out Nutriferon as a significant immune modulator....also that CD cell production is increased.

FYI...while you're at the Shaklee site take a look at the Optiflora... I use it for repopulating my gut while on antibiotics, meaning the last eight years.
I used it while I was on Rocephin IV for nine months and had no yeast issues.
