HI,

I've recently started on doxy/plaquenil combi (400mg of each - 200mg bid))

but am getting bad die-off -adrenalin surges,mind racing, completely restless, increased inflammation, vomiting...... = ALL the usual herxing symptoms that i've had with flagyl so i'm guessing its busting the cysts

is it ok to PULSE plaquenil to give the body a break? (e.g every other week or one week per month) OR is it a med that needs to be taken continuously?

I'm only using it for cyst busting NOT joint pain relief

I am sorry Liz I don't know the answer to your question. Did you ask your doc yet?

you are doing anything for detox?

I believe it takes about 6 weeks for plaquenil to start busting cysts - which would make it a bad candidate for pulsing. Look into it more, because I have heard conflicting information, but I am pretty certain that about 6 weeks is it.

Sorry about the bad herxing. I had that too when I firjst went on plaquenil (but it was combined with Biaxin). It made me absolutely crazy!!!! I couldn't handle it. but I am glad that I stayed the course because I think it helped me a lot.

Now when I go on plaquenil, I feel better than ever. Right now I just went back on it - combined with IV doxy and oral zith. It has only been two days but I feel better in my brain than in a while (compared to when I was on IV doxy alone most recently). I am starting to have some pain herxing but no mental yet. But overall, my mental herxing these days is better on the plaquenil than my mental state when I am not taking it. Maybe because of the anti-inflammatory effects...

thanks for replies & advice -i havet yet asked my LLMD -i've got a phone consult booked in 2 weeks time so will ask then.

i've only been on plaquenil for 2 weeks so if as luvdogs says takes 6 weeks for plaquenil to busts cysts -cant be die-off due to that!!!-maybe the doxy being accentuated by taking the plaquenil? i never know whether to keep persevering with meds when suffering bad die or stop them?
