Hi,

Has anyone had one of the "cyst buster" medications not work at a low dose but work at a higher dose, or a different medication. I tried flayl (which I think was the most effective) but it gave me a bunch of neuropathic symptoms and continous tinnitus. Now I'm doing Tindamax at 500 mg 2x a day but it doesn't seem like it is helping kill the cysts...

I posted on this specifically on "Continous IV Rocephin..." to summarize, I took a day off Rocephin and the day following that I had all sorts of incoordination, trouble thinking in *new* ways, and intense tingling and restlessness. It seems to me the simplest explanation is that the cysts broke open, releasing more spirochete, since there was no longer any antibiotic around.

What has worked for others for killing the borrelia cysts? Also does anyone know how long borrelia can live in its dormant form?

Thanks Much for any help,

I am skeptical that only one day off antibiotics could cause a relapse.

When hubby did IV Rocephin -- his first antibiotic -- about 3 years ago he only got IV's 5 days a week. I felt he needed some time off to detox. It is not unusual for many docs to pulse this med at higher doses -- 4 days on and 3 days off I think.

Within a week of stopping the Rocephin hubby started having some symptoms return -- primarily neuro related. Was 6 months later before we found another doc and found out he had untreated babesia and possibly bartonella as well.

If you relapse so quickly I would suspect a coinfection and not Lyme as the culprit.

Cysts can remain viable for a year or maybe even longer if I remember correctly.
