Ok guys, it's been a few weeks-and I still have BLUE fingers!
When I say blue I don't mean blue like a purple blue, I mean like grey blue. It's as if you were looking at a dead person and their skin is that werid greyish blue tint.
It's only on the tops of my fingers and it goes from joint to joint. The backs of my fingers are normal colored and my hands are normal. It's only the TOP of my fingers.
My doctor (LLMD) has seen it twice and doesn't know what to make of it. My hands are warm and there is no aparently cirrulatory problem.
I have a central port cathider in my chest, I am female, I am on neurotin, tinidimax, malarone, IV Rocephin, sinequan, valtrex-I think that's it.
I am 22 years old, I am not terribly stressed, but a little bit. I gain weight all at once and lose it all at once-and it happens with no rhyme or reason.
My pupils are often dialated especially at night in a light room (not sure?). I am pretty normal aside from the whole lyme thing.
I also contracted Babesia, Bartnella, and Erchilia.
If you have ever heard of this, or seen this, or maybe this is a side effect of something please tell me. If you have time to ask your LLMD's please ask them.
The only thing that makes my fingers look normal is to do 2 liters of hydration (saline)a day. If I do this, then they stay "normal". When I stop, on the 3rd day I've done no hydration they will turn this color.
They will stay that color until I start infusing and I must do a minimum of 2 liters. It takes about a day and then they are back to normal.

Hi, Your not taking colloidal silver are you? Are you handling anything with your fingers, such as herbs,colloidal silver,or craft supplies?
Sometimes robitussin dm cough syrup will pink people up that have cyanosis on lips or fingers/toes but they are blue usually from not enough oxygen.

Lindsay, I guess I replied to you before. It looks exactly as mine. You described it well, a dead person's color. I say it's dark purple or grey-purple, but it's a difficult color to describe....
Is the color deep inside or just on the surface? Mine is deep inside, goes from joint to joint (only in my fingers).
ARe you killing funghi?
Are you killing bartonella?
These are the two things I'm killing now and the color appeared since I started treating these, that's why I ask.
Do you get it stronger while with chills? Or unrelated?
I had that for many years on my toes, after killing funghi. When they die, they leave this color.
Don't know if this helps, I also wonder what are mine. I'm guessing some joint funghi or possibly bartonella causing that?
Do you feel the color gets better during some time of the day?

Actually it started when I started taking a lot more of my malarone. It also started when I started doing 2grams of rocephin 4 days a week.
I thought maybe infusing with saline was helping them from turning blue, but I did another test this weekend with no saline and they didn't turn blue.
I am starting to think it's a reaction to rocephin. The blue fingers start about 4 days after I stop Rocephin and go back to normal by the third day of infusing.
Although, I am also taking Malarone and Tindimax for bart, erchil, and babs. It could be a werid die off reaction from one of them.
I've never heard of the connection between bart and greyish blue fingers. Please tell me more!
My fingers only turn grey (dead like) on the tops. It's not deep and doesn't go through to the other side. It looks especially werid when I bend my fingers because you can see the pink in the creases of the joints. For example when you go tanning or if you were to paint your hand and then bend ur fingers-
The paint would only absorb on the surface showing, so as you bend you could see your natural color in the creases of ur knuckle. It's very bizarre.

I think the two of you (smiles and hardy) seriously otta consider going to see vascular specialists. Lyme or no Lyme, the only two things that I know of that can cause skin tissue to change color are cyanosis and coagulated blood build-up. Both are not good. I don't know if cyanosis is fully reversible, but if you have a coagulated blood build up, depending on the severity, it can usually be corrected by minor surgery. I have never had this problem, but I doubt that it is caused by just a bug die off alone. Contact your LLMD(s)/PCP's and see what their advice is. Don't wait!

I do believe it's funghi die off (or bart). I have gotten the same color problem in localized points where athlete's foot was for the last decade... I'm so used to this 'problem'...
I'm not sure her problem is the same, I just wanted to say I got that bluish problem too.

I have never had blue all over. But when I first went into see my LLMD I was getting spots of blue on my fingers. They were very dark, almost like a bruise. Although I know that I never hit my finger on anything that hard, and it did not hurt to the touch. Since I have been on abx for the past four months, I have not seen them come back. I think it is definitely a part of Lyme's though. Of course, it would not hurt checking out a vascular doctor either.

I agree with K-lyme,
The fact that "rehydration" appears to fix the problem and the fingers being blue supports a circulatory problem being the cause. Babesia can really gum up the blood, but in its active stage. The spleen removes the dead ones that are killed along with the RBC remnants. The urine also gets very dark when this happens.
How much water do you drink in a day? Do you have watery stool or a mal-absorption problem that causes fluids not to be absorbed? I would ask to have that checked out also since there is no reason why the IV water should be any different from drinkling the watrer unless there is a problem like this.
