My ob/gyn doctor wants to do a bladder tie-up surgery. I have started "dribbling" and have to wear a light pad every single day and night.
Granted I have gained a ton of weight with lyme. Almost 100 pounds and I am having a heck of a time trying to diet.
I don't want the surgery and told him so he put me on hormones which I also don't want.
Does anybody else have this problem? I am terrified of surgery with lyme and don't feel a bladder tieup surgery will work. I know several women who have had it and it did not help one iota.
What do you think? Is this lyme too?

I had this problem pre IV rochephin . So bad I was wearing "depends", I had very little bladder control at all. Since treatment I am much better almost no problems at all.It was definately a lyme sympton for me.

I had bladder leakage all right- looked like I was giving birth to an alien.
I don't know what you mean by "tie-up", but I did have a bladder repair along with a total hysterectomy. When the bladder fell out it brought the rest of the organs with it.
This all happened after my initial diagnosis for lyme when I was treated insufficiently. So the lyme was able to continue working its evil ways.My bladder was the first thing to go.
After the surgery and 11 months of treatment for lyme things have gotten much much better. I don't wear pull-ups anymore.

I just started lyme treatment, but have had the leakage thing forever.
I've learned that it can be a symptom of low estrogen and/or low testosterone, which can be a symptom of adrenal insufficiency, which can be a symptom of lyme.
I'm talking about weak muscles and weak connective tissues that tend to lose their tone.
I also believe the bladder can lose its tone in response to other things that make the body weak, like food allergies.
In addition, I believe the bladder can become very irritated from dealing with a load of Bb and friends, and cause feelings of urgency and frequency.
Natural hormone replacement has helped me quite a bit over the past year! I hope one day not to dependent on it, but for now am glad for it.
If it were me, I'd stay far away from the synthetic hormones, which are made from mare's urine and other such things incompatible with humans, and seem to be causing cancer in some people.
I'd also stay away from hormone pills that have to get filtered through an already overtaxed lyme liver, and an underfunctioning antibiotic-loaded lyme digestive system.
If chosing hormones, the natural/bioidentical transdermal hormone creams make much more sense to me.

Bejoy, you are right ... my mom's oncologist told her that her breast cancer was from her taking HRT. We had no breast cancer in our family, ever, until she got it. Of course, her gyn. says it wasn't the hormones.
I get urgency and frequency, especially before bedtime. Sometimes I even wake up in the night for such a small amount that I wonder why I felt I had to go so badly!
Occasional light leakage ... I thought it had to do with having 5 kids (the sixth is adopted)!

Do you know the cause of your bladder sagging?
Mine, they think is from enlarged uterus/ multiple fibroids pressing on bladder. (excessive fibroid growth from lyme?? Mine have doubled in my two years of having lyme)
One of my docs recommended hysterectomy, and another thought utrine embolization was a less invasive option.
I am having this next month.
Utrine embolization used to be used 6-8 weeks before hysterectomy, to minimize blood loss during hysterectomy.
Then some women found that their problems went away after embolization and cancelled their hysterectomies.
It is now offered as a 'stand alone' treatment.
(procedure blocks main blood supply to uterus, therefore shrinks it, yet it stays alive)
My sister had this done 5 years ago because one of her fibroids was causing back pain and leg numbness.
It worked for her. Within a few weeks of embolization, her fibroids shrunk, pain went away, and so she has avoided a hysterectomy. Von

My doc said it was because I had stopped taking Premarin .625 and the vagina and everything had basically "dried out". Apparently the muscles can weaken because of this or something.
I'm not a medical person but his explanation made sense so I'm back on hormones and a vaginal type of cream.
Dang, I hate hormones but he said I HAVE to stay on them untl further notice. Well people I am 56 and don't want to stay on them the rest of my life but I don't want to argue with him either about it.

At the age of 42 I needed a hysterectomy and had been having leakage problems also. I mentioned leakage to my doc and he tied up things during a vaginal removal. Can't believe I waited about 5 yrs to have it corrected.
My parts weren't in good shape prior to lyme and quickly became bigger problems after lyme.

My mom has lyme and she has problems with her bladder for which they did a repair - tie up procedure. It did not help.
I have the urgency and constant pain. It has gotten worse on abx so I assume it is a lyme problem. I've heard many others with lyme talk about cystitis which is what I have. I think it is common with lyme.
As far as premarin - please consider another option:
Premarin Farms A number of horses that are sent to slaughter come from premarin farms. They are the mares and their foals (babies) who are discarded once they are no longer useful for the purpose of making hormones for human consumption. The name Premarin comes from PREgnant MARes urINe. Premarin is a hormone used in hormone replacement therapy for women.
Those unlucky enough to become premarin farm mares are kept pregnant year after year until they can no longer get pregnant at which time they are sold at auction. The majority of them go from auction to slaughter houses.
During their tenure as pregnant mare urine producers they are kept in small stalls, isolated from other horses and allowed only minimal exercise. This allows for maximum urine to be collected via a cup that is attached to their body 24 hours a day. They typically do not have room in these small quarters to turn around or lie down flat in order to sleep deeply. The urine collection cup allow for their skin to become infected due to being in constant contact with urine.
It is estimated that approximately 30,000 foals are produced yearly by premarin farms. Mares are not allowed to stay with their foals for the normal amount of time and the majority of foals are sent to be slaughtered or to be fattened for slaughter at the age of 3 or 4 months old.
What can you do to stop Premarin Farms? Don't buy premarin! Buy alternative hormones that are made from plant materials. Premarin will not be produced if people refuse to buy it. Ask for alternatives such as: Estradiol Estropipate Estrone Estratab Estraderm Estrace Ortho-Est Remifemin
Aside from that, it's your body. If you do what your doctor says even when it's against your better judgement, will your doctor be the one to suffer if it causes damage - NO. It's your body and your decision. Terry
