Has anyone taken Hawthorn for heart inflammation? Did it work? Thanks.

Hawthorn stopped my visits to the ER. My homeopathic tested me out on this about a year ago on this. I have a liquid cap form made by GIA Herbs, liquid phyto caps. I took 6 a day when things were bad.

It really helped with my babs treatment. It also helped when I was on doxy. doxy likes to mess with my heart a bit too. I still use the hawthon when things get a bit tight in my chest. I am also on a lot of lymph drainage homeopathic support.

It took about 2 days to feel the effect of the hawthorn for me. It will also level off your BP. During my herxes my BP likes to get a bit high.

Hawthorn helped me with chest pains that feel like angina. So has abx. After several years of daily chest pains, I am much better in that regard after 8 months of lyme tx.

I do not take it regularly, but it has been a reliable and beneficial supplement when I did. If you have heart inflammation, most important to speak with your doctor and get a full cardiac check-up! Be well.

Johnlyme and VermontLymie, do your products contain just Hawthorn BERRY, or berries, flowers and leaves?

What I wanted was just Hawthorn Berry tincture, but what I got was a tincture made from berries, flowers and leaves.

I keep having a reaction to it every few days, and I'm only taking 2 drops in water twice a day! I get slightly nauseated, feel just "unwell" and somehow out of balance with the world.

And no definate change in palpitations, etc.

I can't figure out what is going on.

Hi Tracy: What I have taken is capsules made from an equal amount of Hawthorn Berries (675mg) and Hawthorn Leaves and Flowers (675mg together).

The brand is "Nature's Herbs" (With whom I have no affiliation.)

Sounds like you had a bad reaction -- so if I were you, I would not continue that tincture!

Be well, VL

I agree! and remember, aspirin is derived from hawthorn. Don't overdo!!

Mine also contains the berry leaf and flower. I also tried a couple of forms that were powered herbs in a capsule and a hard tablet form, for some reason the liquid Phyto caps worked best for me and also muscle tested the best.

I also had mutiple cardiac workups by my cardiologist. He quite frankly also thought there was some inflamation around the heart but did nothing for it. But he said he had no problem with me using the hawthorn and acknowleged that it can have some benifits.

Thanks for the feedback, VL and Johnlyme.

I agree Lymetoo - don't overdo!

This bottle I got says to take 60-90 drops, 4 times a day in a little water! I was only taking 5 drops twice a day. If I had followed the directions, I would either have been "cured", dead, or puking my socks up.

I've found that my reactions to this tincture are periodic, and if I skip a dose or two, the negative symptoms subside.

If I remember correctly, Hawthorn helps clean up your aterial walls if you have plaque and such, so perhaps there is "gunk" being released and my body is having a little trouble with the detox aspect.

I'll stick with it awhile and see what happens.

Thanks again.

Tracy

Thanks everyone.

I plan on giving it 2 months to see if the Hawthorn helps. From what I read (on one website), after a couple of months it may work as good as some heart medications.

Am going to try Grapefruit Seed Extract along with the Hawthorn and hope this will work to kill any possible bugs. Also eat lots of garlic. Was doing pretty good until a week ago when a good friend of mine died. It broke my heart.

I know GSE is powerful, just now sure what dosage I should use. Right now I'm at 10 drops 3x day but will gradually increase.

Thanks for the responses and the concern.
Will probably try the liquid phyto caps.
Thanks.

Just wanted to add that if I do not feel like things are starting to improve with the GSE (and I will know if they aren't improving b/c my heart hurts) then I will go to the Doctor for tests. I just hate to pay all that money for tests when I have no insurance and they will probably come up normal anyway. I will use common sense though, if this continues much longer. (and keep you posted.. thanks)
