I was denied IV, and am getting worse, am on orals, but not sure what is going to happen.
My skin is affected, and wanted to ask who else has/had this and what was the antibiotics that helped. When I shower, I use Ivory Soap, this has been the only soap that does not make me itch,
NOW even ivory soap is causing me to burn and itch. My skin is becoming so sensitive, Which anitbiotics get into the skin, does tetracycline
My gums around my teeth are receding too, I never had this, always great gums and teeth, I want to stop this before it gets worse, so
have to keep asking questions, My skin on my hands is getting paper thin. It is not that bad, as I have seen pictures of this....
Acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans
which is associated with chronic lyme, and also scloderma is. I have waxy looking little marks starting on my hands, and arms, tiny, but they are getting more, as I get
WORSE. So, I want to stop this, and have read that this is associated with the Borrellia strain... Borrelia Afzellii
QUOTE....Acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans is a chronic skin disease that occurs in Europe and Asia and is primarily associated with B. afzelii infection....
I travelled Europe, and got ill over there, so this may be the strain I have. Not sure. I am getting worse, and am looking for a LLMD in the USA that may be able to answer more of my questions, like my skin, as I see that it is lyme,
I am on Tetracyline and tinidazole, but this is just NUTS, something is wrong, maybe a new LLMD may help me, or maybe all I need is IV.
thanks,
Trish

Health,
For your mouth I have two suggestions.
Gargle with hydrogen peroxide, and let your toothbrush soak in hydrogen peroxide between uses.
I don't know about your skin. The skin on the back of my hands is terrible, and I slater it with sesame oil before I shower. I use only minimal soap on my body for my armpits and other crevice areas. Otherwise, just water. The soap I use is Dr. Bonner's tea tree soap.
Good luck,
Karen

Oil pulling saved my mouth and teeth. I did it for months and did not have to go to a dentist because my teeth got stronger and my gums got healthier. So nice to have some control over something.
It works.....just search "oil pulling"

Hi Trish-
Is the burning/itching constant or does the soap, for example, irritate your skin and then it goes away?
If it's nerve related you might be able to try neurontin (or something similar) that may help.
If you feel like you are getting worse and it's not some sort of herx or reaction to the meds then maybe seeking out a new doctor is the right way to go.
What was the reason you were denied IV?

I am currently using a steroid cream (lotrisone) to clear up some skin issues.
I have been advised to use only Dove soap (dye free) and also to use Cetaphil cream all over my body. When I get a rash or other skin problems, it takes a few months for them to go away. I always have to stop my meds when this happens. It used to clear up in a few weeks, but every time it gets worse.
LLMD has thrown in the towel and is sending me to both an allergist and a dermatologist. I'm not too sure that will help. When I saw a dermatoligst last year, they said "dermatitis with unknow origin, possible spider bite"!! I was NOT impressed.
