It seems the last couple of weeks that my skin (and it's mostly my arms and hands) will kind of burn and tingle. I can't exactly describe it, but it's sort of like a tingling kind of sunburn feeling. It hasn't reached the "oh my god" kind of pain yet, but if it continues it just might.

I think a bee sting might describe it.

I have been on ceftin for almost 2 weeks now and I'm wondering if it could be a allergic reaction, part of a herx, or is the lyme getting worse?

My neck is not so bad today so apparently this severe neck pain comes and goes. It's worse in the morning and seems to let up around afternoon.

There are so many symptoms I don't know what's what at this point. I surely would appreciate knowing how to deal with this skin burning thing tho. I can't imagine it getting worse..........

Hmm, I dunno. As part of my Lyme/Co presentation I had very prickly skin at one point during tx, lasting for months, and so did the hubby. Felt to me like tiny ants with electroshock shoes were walking over me. This eventually resolved. It lasted through a couple of abx changes so I'm pretty sure it was an LD effect and not a response to meds.

But burning, itching skin can be a sign of a very undesirable--possibly dangerous-- reaction to medication, and is nothing to fool around with. So I really really urge you to make sure your doc pays serious attention to this and can assure you it's not an allergic response.

Also -- dunno what other meds you are on, but the skin sensitivity caused by sun exposure while taking things like doxycycline caused my skin to be very itchy with a red raised rash.

That's exactly what it feels like -- ants with electric shoes on.

Hmmm, I may stop the meds for a few days and see what happens.

I do notice that it seems to be worse a couple of hours after taking my meds. Dang, I hope it's not my meds.

He did say that he would treat with amoxy next so we'll see.

I have had burning skin & muscle twitches for a year. LLMD says they are neuro lyme symptoms. Started as tingling in hands & legs, developed into burning skin, muscle twitches, etc.

I have seen a # of posts here on those symptoms. Not saying it cannot be an allergic reaction to meds, but in my case, and many others, they are LD neuro symptoms.

Some people who have had them say the abx eventually stop those symptoms. Good Luck.
