My daughter went from being very smart and funny and outgoing to having an extremely wqithdrawn/autistic type presentation almost ovrenight. She lost a lot of cognitive ability and was off in her own world which at age 2 would consist of staring eyes wide open down at the CARPET for HOURS. NOT normal for a 2 year old!!! And the only thing she owuld say was "It hurts it hurts." Before that she was very precocious (still is, 10 years old & reading at college level & highest standardized testing score at her school ) and at 1 could sing her ABCs and count to ten i n English & SPanish!!!
After going on Cedax ONE WEEK she said, "Mama, I remember my ABCs again!" and sang them for first time in months & months!!! And she was back to normal, to herself. Cedax was amazing- it just brought her brain back 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never went facedown on the carpet again!!! EVER!~

The personality/emotional changes are the most difficult aspects of this for me. I want to enjoy eating food again, laugh easily, feel creative. It is so tough some days.

I can't speak for anyone else but I have had major personality changes.
I went from being totally tolerant, non-judgemental, and having no temper, to having furious Lyme rages which were so intense they endangered my heart. I would ruminate over and over for months at a time about some unfair thing someone had done, and not be able to let it go.
I have to avoid people who make me angry now to protect my heart. I have become so judgemental that this category now includes most people.....anyone who does not live up to my personal ethical standards, which are very high.
This has also resulted in my politics doing a 180 degree turn from where they used to be. At age 55, I changed my party affiliation and have to avoid talking politics with the friends I have left, since they all think the way I used to think. Changing political/social views after the age of 35 is extremely rare.
I had read in one of my professional psychiatric journals that research shows that what we think of as our "personalities" are mostly due to the chemical composition of the fluid our brains are floating in at the time, which is primarily determined by our neurotransmitter levels.
After what has happened to me, I now believe it. It is a very depressing thing, when you think about it. So much for free will.
Xanax helps, but it takes too long to work. I have found that having acupuncture on a regular basis to remove "excess heart fire" from my body has been the most helpful thing I've tried to prevent rages, but it is costly.
I know this is very hard to deal with, and you have my empathy.
