Artemisinin is a peroxide (oxidant). Very strong peroxide qualities!!
Andrographis is an anti-oxidant
Just this one interaction alone should be enough to set off chemical changes in one or (probably) BOTH herbs. NOT A GOOD THING!!

Any antioxidants should not be taken within 4 hrs of Art. This would include Vit C, E, ALA, M Thistle, and so on. This doesn't mean that there would necessarily be any toxic interation. It's just counterproductive to do so because this could render the Art ineffective.
It's difficult to draw any conclusions from the thread that you linked. It's just a bunch of very subjective reactions from people that are using various combinations of herbs.
This quote sounds like the closest thing to what might be happening in some cases:
"He thinks that the andrographis is being converted into a metaboite which then interferes with neurotransmitters. He's found this in a small number of his patients."

I'm thinking of what another peroxide does- hydrogen peroxide. They change the things that are exposed to them. From what I understand in agriculture, adding hydrogen peroxide to a fertilizer mix may completely change some of the chemicals and there are possibilities of those chemicals becoming toxic to plants. Depending on what those chemicals are. I can't tell you which chemicals although I beleive some are nitrogen chemicals, and minerals.
I think there is a good possibility that could happen with these 2 herbs. I'm not a chemist and can't say yes or no definitely, but if it does happen it would not be good.
It might not be happening, but reading the reactions to this combination made me think it probably was.
Maybe there is a chemist or a pharmacist on board who can give a definite answer.

I reacted bad to the combo artemisinin + andrographis, but I DIDN'T TAKE THESE AT THE SAME TIME.
I always took artemisinin empty stomach, without any other supplement due to interaction problem with it. So I certainly waited minimum 2 hours to get my andrographis dose or any other herb.
If I reacted bad, I believe, was due to bad herxes under both strong killers. My opinion. Not because of what you say: oxidant + antioxidant reaction.
Or anyone who would take artemisinin and eat an orange (vit C) two hours after would also be "endangered".
Buhner never recommended artemisinin with core protocol (andrographis included). Artemisinin was inside his babesia protocol.
