My neighbor has just reminded me that several months ago I'd mentioned Buhner's prevention protocol to him--the herbs you take year round to protect yourself from Lyme.

We live in the woods, and he sees what I'm going through, so he's naturally interested in prevention. I don't have the book anymore, as I'd gotten it from the library.

I seem to recall that it consisted of only one or two things, and astragalus was one of them. Can anyone refresh my memory? My neighbor has already survived cancer--he doesn't need Lyme. Who does?

Thanks.

Peggy, that's it:
- homeopathic nosode borrelia 30C: 3 2x daily for 3 days
- andro 1 caps 3x daily in tick season
- cats claw 2 capsules 3x daily t.season
- astragalus 1,000 mg / day whole year

BUT:
I personally use lots of homeopathy for years. I asked Buhner about his homeopathy prevention (the dosage sounded too strange for me). He said he's got not much experience with it, he just reported what he read.

If bitten, do core protocol as described + eleuthero tincture (1tsp 3x daily for 30-60 days).

For rash: homeopathic apis 30C: 3x daily for 3 days. He doesn't say how much of intake though.

Astralagus is not recommended by Buhner if you have chronic lyme. Hiker

Thanks Selma, I'll pass on the info to him.

Hiker 53--he doesn't have chronic Lyme. He doesn't have Lyme at all. He was asking for information about prevention.

what can you do for prevention if you already have chronic lyme?

You mean there are TICKS IN New York City?

I thought this was more of a country phenomenon?

I had a tick crawling on my thumb the other day when I was driving my car. And I just walked from the house to the car on the driveway. Could have been IN the car?!?!?!

I still have CHRONIC Lyme, so am still on Buhner's protocol. THAT should take care of any NEW bites also IMO.

Heiwa,

The Buhner core protocol makes your body toxic to many different infectious agents. Andrographis , one of the herbs in it, has been extensively studied for it's action against many kinds of spirochetes and the logic behind Buhner's prevention protocol seems like a good idea if you already have Lyme and want to keep from getting re-infected while in a high-risk area or whatever. Be aware that you have to take the andrographis several times a day or it doesn't work- it's excreted by the body very rapidly. I'm not sure if that's true of the other herbs.
