for those of you who take bi yan pian for sinus problems, do you have to take it everyday for it to help or only when it is very bad? and how many do you take and how often? and did you have any side effects? and how soon did you get relief? thanks for any input,
radha

Unfortunately, and I could be wrong, but I think you're alone on this one. I have never heard of bi yan pian before, ever (and I've been at this for four years [Frown] ) [confused] . I did a quick google search on it and here is the most informative page I found on it:

Hope this helps! [Smile]

The herbalist at the store where I purchased the remedy recommended 3-4 small pills every 2-3 hours or so when sinus symptoms are at their worst. I felt no side-effects whatsoever, just a lessoning of symptoms over a period of 1-3 days. After symptoms lesson, I took maybe 2-3 doses per day for a few days after that (as long as I saw improvement). But there may be cases of allergies/sensitivities as with anything.

I would stop taking it after the first few days if I did not see any improvement, not because it is harmful, but because it is probably not the right remedy.

The instructions were not for me specifically, but general guidelines for anyone taking Bi Yan Pian.

Never dont that, but do you have a Neti pot? It will clean out your sinus, and feels great! Its a little ceramic pot, you fill with salt and water (warm) and use it to clean out, they have it at pharmacies and health food stores. Hope you feel better! [Smile]

What really works for me is a natural product called MucoStop. It does not seem to do anything to me but dry up my nose so the pain goes away. It contains seaprose a enzyme.

Yes... thank you for that reminder about the nettie pot, WC. This was helpful for me, too, and I kind of got away from it, somehow. The enzyme remedy sounds interesting, too.

Hi Radha,

Bi Yan Pian is very mild but should help sinus congestion. If your phlegm congestion is yellow than Clean Air Tea Pills( Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan) will work better. The latter are good for lung congestion as well. I also found a salt pipe helped. Also the only thing that first cleared my Lyme related sinus congestion was having lots of wasabi. That cleared up a six month long bout of sinus congestion. It was radical but it helped [Smile] .

Hi Radha,

I got the saltpipe online from England. The site is something like www.saltpipe.co.uk. If you do a search in google you'll find it.

I think the Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan would work better for your sinus condition than the Bi Yan Pian. The salt pipe looks like a ceramic salt shaker with air holes on either end.

You breathe the salty air through the nostrils and it kills bacteria and viruses, and it thins mucous secretions and clears blocked sinuses. It is also good for asthma, and phlegm in the lungs, and bronchitis.

The salt is from some special cave in eastern Europe that has traditionally been used for people with asthma and respirator problems. It cost me $50 but it lasts five years. It is also good for general prevention.

The neti pot uses salt water, and the saltpipe uses salty air. That is the main difference.

I also think the saltpipe is more convenient and easy to use, since you don't have to snort up water up one nostril, and it is cleaner.
