I just filled 12 capsules with stephania powder, and now I know why another poster drinks decoctions....

I can't believe you have the patience to do this!!!

I guess it's going to be stephania tincture from now on unless there's some trick to this that you can share with me...

Hi psano

You can get a device for filling caps.
cost about $10--
fills about 10 caps at once --

Look on herb sites to find -Jay

Don't you have the Capsule Filling Machine that outfits like StarWest Botanicals and WonderLabs sell?

They are less than $14 and fill 24 at a time.

You save about 75 to 80% on the cost of capsules this way. So you are getting paid to do them yourself.

IF you have lots of money, then just buy them already done. Especially if you are working full time.

Jim.

The capsule-filling machine is great. You do 50 at a time. It's awkward at first, but now I can make 50 capsules in 15 minutes. I make them while I'm watching tv.

I guess you got the other machine. I bought that one too, but then found out I had to buy another part for it, and never have ordered it, so have never used it. That does sound a little faster than my 24 cap machines.

Course it could be just me too.

They claim you can do 24 in two minutes, but it takes me closer to ten minutes.

Jim.

Jim,

I have small fingers, maybe that helps! :-)

I have the CapMQuick too (the 50-capsule one), and I think Jim's Capsule Machine is probably easier to use. WIth the CapMQuick you have to attach the capsule tops individually whereas with the Capsule Machine the machine itself does it after you line them up in the right slots, which seems easier.

YES, besides with such a cute name as "sweet Pea", you must be a lot younger than me too. Our fingers and skin overall get dry and harder to do finer work when we get old.

Yes, that would be true. However, I think you can get the "top" piece to do that same thing. It just costs you extra and I didn't know you had to order it separate when I ordered mine. And like I said, I just haven't gotten around to it. I have TWO Capsule Machines. One in the "0" size and one in the "00" size.

The top piece for the capmquick is just a tamper that allows you to pack more into the capsules, from what I can gather (I got it, and don't really think it's necessary. When I researched it, I didn't see for sale a 'cover' piece like you're describing.)

ALso, it seems to me (no direct experience) that having a smaller encapsulator means that you work over a bowl or plate, and can deal with spilled powder easier than working with a large piece of paper like I do with the Capsule Machine.

Okay, Maria. You are most likely right.

It has been awhile since I bought mine and forget what I read on it. Maybe it WAS the tamper. I guess I just assumed it was the capper.

And I think you are also right in that it can be used on a plate which is what I do when I am watching TV.

So, control probably IS better too.

I do think that the tamper IS important though. Otherwise on some of the herbs you only have about a half a capsule full. It will LOOK full, but will have very little weight.
