Does anyone know the DIRECT cause of floaters in vision that is so common in us lymies? I have been seeing a DOM or Doctor of Oriental medicine and he told me it is a sign that the liver has an overload of fat soluable toxins... Good question. I would like to know the answer also. Some days they are so bad, that it is unreal. Other days, it eases up a little. Have always wondered what actually "causes" them though, so if anybody knows..................????

do you notice when the floaters are worse that you are feeling worse? or in other words, do your floaters increase in number when you are feeling really bad?

I'm with you on wondering what causes them. My eyes are so full of them! Mine have a spaghetti and meatball pattern. Similar in some ways to both photos I have seen of candida, and of spirochetes and systs.

Interesting article and explanation. It says that floaters are caused by thickening vitreaous humors, or by trapped proteins. Which trapped proteins, and is there any non-surgical way to get them out, I wonder?

I don't know how they are caused but I had a thick soup of them in my vision that got worse & worse but thety ALL went away with IV Rocephin!*)*!)! thank goodness*)!)*! So they (or mine was anyway) are reversible*)!!*!

According to my eye doc there is no way to get rid of them outside surgery. Once the vitreous gel is detached it doesn't reattach itself. It may get better and many floaters will settle at the bottom of the eye so you can't see them as bad.

So with all this info I guess it is safe to say that no one really knows what the cause of floaters are. I have heard something different from every doctor/person.

Hi All
I used to have 15 or more floaters in each eye- 5 yrs or so -
After about 2 years of doxi my floaters slowly dissapeared --and were Totally gone for about 8 months
But Everytime I quite taking Doxi my floaters return- not real bad but noticeable --
When I take doxi again the floaters dissappere again in about 2 weeks --
I have been threw the floaters- No floaters cycle about 6 times --
I have Lyme and Babs --I have no clue what causes the floaters --
Adding Babs treatment did not seem to make any difference tho -- Jay --

I get these floaters, too. I get about 3-4 different kinds.
1. Some look like the spaghetti & meatballs or trees without leaves.
2. Lately, I also see a single-celled organism with a tail. There are 100's of them. they are very, very tiny and move very quickly.
3. In the past 2-3 weeks I see some that look like sparks of light. There are only one or two that occure about 2x per day.
4. I also see one very dark, heavy, large "floater" that always makes me think a black dark fuzzy just fell past my face. I think it is only in one eye. It always catches me by surprise and never fails to make my eyes track it as it falls.
I've drawn pictures of these for my eye dr. He says it's unusual for it to be so definite. Usually, the floaters are much more vague.
I sure wish I knew what these things were & how to get rid of them. Following a very strick anti-candida diet makes the spaghetti & meatballs type floaters diminish. Nothing seems to make the others go away.

what do your floaters look like?
sometimes if you catch different light angles, or look with your eyes closed at light, you can see them more clearly.
mine actually look like bacteria under the microscope. with nuclei and organelles and such.

thanks for this link! it really actually makes sense. the more i read and learn about "alternative" medicine, like chinese medicine talking about "blockages", this makes sense. probably a healthy person should normally be able to clear floaters out of the eye.

I am coming in at the tail end of this discussion, but I have been dealing with tons of floaters for years now...since the 80's..I got bit in 1972.
I see a wonderful opthamologist who specializes in the retina. I was told that I have enough floaters to sell them at a flea market!!! I also have macular edema, and it has progressed to cyst macular hole. It has caused me to be legally blind in the right eye with inflammation of the retina in both eyes. The macular hole is present in both eyes. It is not treatable and there is no promise that my left eye will not become legally blind although it has the same damage as the right one. I cannot drive anymore as this has seriously damaged my depth perception and walking can be tricky at time.
My Opthamologist and another one have both said that this is attributed to the lyme disease!!! They are not LLMDs but they do recognize the lyme disease. To me this is a miracle within itsef!! The floaters will alwasys be there and lately I have many more. Oy vez when I go outside in the sun. Those silver streaks and little silver specks are everywhere.
Sign of liver enzymes...just had liver fundion panel done..all normal. Three months ago the liver panel was just above normal....I have lost weight since then and watch what I eat. Could be the lyme toxins...who knows. Our regular medical community does not seem that interested in any lyme theories....Quackers. Makes treatments so much harder along with diagnosis.
Hope this helps. My Lyme story has effected many parts of my body, but the Opthamologist seems to be the only one that concludes that it is the Lyme Disease.

I'm so sorry to hear of your eye problems caused by the Lyme. I wish there was some treatment for it. I have an eye problem called Central Serous Retinopathy. Basically what happened is fluid started leaking on my retina. It was like a blister. Then it stabilized. But whoa, it sure is scary. I have a blind spot where the blister was. It makes me sad, but when I think about the fact that in heaven we will all be whole, it encourages me.

Floaters have been one of my main complaints. However, I'm 5.5 months into treatment and they have improved. They are not gone, but they have improved.
I hope that you all are encouraged, that they might get better.
I did ask my LLMD about them, and he told me that most of the cases that he has treated, the floaters dont ever go away.. but they do get better.
So hang in there. Any improvement is better than none!
