I apologize for spinning a new thread out of this, but...
My LLMD told me today that he knows about a group of lymies in Washington (DC? State?) who purchased an HBO chamber together. That is, my idea of forming an HBO consortium in CA is not that farfetched.
Since we have two HBOT facilities in CA, the demand is obviously there. I can not afford 7K for a full HBOT course, especially since there is no guarantee it will work (or, perhaps, I am not feeling that desperate yet to go into an even deeper debt). But I could easily contribute 2-3K to join a group of Lymies who would buy a 20K chamber and use it on a regular basis.
I am in the Bay area, and I would agree to drive for under 1 hr daily to get to the diving site.

from what I understand insurance never pays for it (I mean, if your diagnosis is "Lyme" per se - for which HBO is actively discouraged by ISDA). If it was MS for which HBO is approved by FDA, they would pay).

I think it would be possible if we got enough people on board. Yes, there are the liability issues, I agree. Also, where would it be kept? Would have to figure out who would be in charge of keeping it and scheduling access. And paying for upkeep, energy use, etc. and training.
It would be good to talk to the Washington people to see how they set it up and what's worked for them and benefit from their experience. I think that there are possibly enough interested Lymies in the Bay Area to warrant further exploration on this, yes?

I'm sure you NoCal folks are aware of the excellent HBO facility in Chico, CA.
Our daughter just recently completed a 40 dive/2 month treatment and the results are really positive.
I'd really be interested in being involved in bringing a multi-place chamber to SouCal.

Yeah, I know of the Chico place. They ask $7K for full course. Apparnetly, half it is their insurance in case something goes awry and they get sued. At this point I can not afford it, especially since there is no guarantee it will work.

In Corte Madera there is a place too that I think might be less then Chico because when you call them they give you better rates. I still have not tried it. In Australia the government pays for it for cancer patients and pays for their hotel stay as well. My friend's husband did it in Australia for a month with weekends off. The government paid for his whole treatment.
