Cryptolepsis is a shrub from the Asclepiadacea family. It has been used for hundreds of years in the treatment of many serious illnesses. It has the following benefits: antiparasitic, antimalarial, antibacterial, antifungal. Human clinical trials have shown cryptolepsis to be very effective in the treatment of malaria. In fact, one of these trials showed this herb to clear malarial symptoms in a shorter time then its synthetic counterpart, chloroquine, and without the side-effects associated with that medication.
Taken Internally
Tea -- mix a teaspoon of cryptolepsis with 5 ounces of boiling water -- can be taken up to twice a day
Tincture -- Make a 1:5 ratio mixture in 60 percent alcohol -- use between 20 - 40 drops up to four times a day.
Capsule -- Take up to 3 capsules twice a day. Up to 20 capsules can be taken for acute conditions provided that you are under a homeopathic doctor's care.
Used Externally
Crush herb into a fine powder. It can be applied to an external bacterial or fungal infection. Apply up to four times per day.
*Caution -- While there are no warnings regarding this herb, people using it should be aware that they may have, or may develop an allergy to cryptolepsis. Should you develop a rash or experience any other odd symptoms while using this herb, discontinue use of it immediately.

The woodlandessense.com price quoted is $18 for 2 oz (12 teaspoons).
At 1/2 teaspoon x 3 per day = 8 day supply.
That can add up pretty fast.

$45 for 5 ounces of tincture from Bear Creek Herbs which works out to one teaspoon 3 times per day for a 10 day supply -- dose suggested by Buhner.
Hubby did 10 days and has reordered another 10 day supply. Buhner says 10 - 30 days total on this herb.
Hubby is on quinine low dose which is only somewhat effective -- took the cryptolepsis and the quinine together -- think it helped some.

When Mepro costs much over 100 dollars an ounce, I think this is an inexpensive option.

Wow. I didn't know mepron was that pricey. How long will a 1 oz bottle of mepron last?
BTW, the LLMD told me yesterday that a patient has put daps of mepron on her cherry angioma and it got better. Interesting.
I wonder if cryptolepsis powder would work topically as well?

I'm sorry, but a quick search a couple of weeks ago didn't show anyone online carrying the whole herb.
Maybe a good place to start would be the herbal companies that are making the tinctures.
They have to get it from somewhere!

Bear Creek Herbs just informed hubby that they are all out of the cryptolepsis tincture -- trying to order more of the herb from Africa but don't know when they will have a new supply.
Hubby is having major babesia problems. The other things that may be helping are spilanthes tincture -- I mix this with prickly ash tincture and gotu kola tincture.
I use this when hubby has the sweats and it seems to stop the sweating and tremors and dry heaves within a few minutes -- have been using this 4 - 7 times daily for the last 3 days -- hubby is off quinine (on 10 day rotation cycle) and it is really starting to look like his babs has become resistant to the quinine.
I am using 2 droppers of spilanthes and 1 dropper of each of the other 2 herbs for each dose.
spilanthes -- this is supposed to kill parasites in the bloodstream
prickly ash -- this is supposed to help with blood circulation
gotu kola -- this is supposed to help keep the platelets from sticking together -- saw a reference using the gotu kola and prickly ash combo to prevent crisis from sickle cell anemia
Both prickly ash and spilanthes make your tongue tingle -- this sensation will become less as you get used to the herbs
Herb Pharm makes an alcohol free gotu kola tincture. Nature's Answer makes a low alcohol (12 - 15%) prickly ash tincture. The spilanthes tincture I have now is from Herb Pharm and is 36 - 46% alcohol.
Am also using the boneset and redroot tinctures.
Will know within a week or so how things are going as hubby is now running temps and has elevated white blood cell count. Something is going to have to happen quickly.

yikes! that sounds serious.
And to have the source dry up. I was wondering about the limited supply issues.
I don't know if you are on any of the nutramedix antimicrobials, but the banderol seems to list good effects.
Also, the raintree herbals are another option if you need something else to try.
Just some thoughts based on my own experience too.

Since using cryptolepsis is such a new idea and it takes many people a long time to heal from this infection, I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of response.
I think I remember your healing came relatively easily after dealing with the other issues first.
