Hello all-

I have had Lyme for almost 3 years now, (antibx for one year), and in the past couple of weeks I have been waking up in the middle of the night with what feels like my heart racing.

It happens during the day too. When I take my pulse it is in the normal high range - around 70.

I am on Biaxin and Plaquenil (since January).

Does anyone have insight to this? i don't know much about the cardio issues with Lyme. I had an EKG in December before starting the Biaxin/plaquenil and it was normal.

Thanks for any insight!!

Hi

70 is a VERY normal heartrate, normal is anywhere from 60 to 90 bpm, men are generally higher than women.

I have the palps too, I try not to let them get to me but they generally cause me to go into anxiety when I get them, its usually once a day if that, when I notice it...it may happen much more then that though

This can be caused by Lyme
but it is common with BABESIOSIS as well!!!

Especially with babs- night palpitations!!!

Thanks for the replies! That is one of the frustrating things with Lyme - you never know when to worry. I just don't want to go to a cardiologist who isn't familiar with TBD and waste time/money. The symptom doesn't bother me, it's just scary when it's your heart.

My resting heart rate used to be in the 50s - did a lot of cardio running and swimming. So 70's sounds high to me.

I think you might be right about babs. I've always suspected this, but never tested positive for it. Dr B (retired now) didn't think so, and Dr. P in CT didn't think so at first meeting, but I have a handful of the symptoms, and responded well to Zithromax before I was diagnosed...

Thanks again!

Hi LZ

what is you temp?
Take several times aday for several days-

Low temp is a sign of Babs -

usually 97 to 95 - but it can be lower -

High temp spikes can happen also -
but mine have been short- hour to 1 day-

Babs symptoms usually worsen at night-
not always tho --

Babs is Very common and the tests
are Very Poor -- Ouch

Thanks Jay...I think it's looking like babs. I have not taken my temp consistently since the fall, but it was always low 96-97 range. I will look into it!!
