Any of you have this done and it show up anything like arthritis or swelling in the joints?

Husband is having it done this week and didn't know if anything lyme related could show up and help prove even more that he has lyme.

I'd like to have it done but doctor won't approve it, and without his approval, insurance won't pay...

pup..My daughter has had 2. One that discovered she had osteoporosis at 16 years of age and one a few months ago that I have not seen results of..She will not let me go in for Drs appts.

I was told it was ok and she did not need to take supplements but it must not have been read very well. She was recently diagnosed with 2 teeth that have almost no bone left.

Guess the radiologist was only looking at the spine and hip, sites of previous concern. [shake]

I think the proceedure is not a problem. She has not complained. And no one here understands Tick Borne disease so they made no correlation between the two things. Wonder what they think caused this?

Just by luck my husband has been having on going ankle pain and swelling and his local ortho. has done an MRI and xrays of it and has shown nothing.

Course we feel its may be lyme related but you can't say the word lyme around here or they think you are crazy ...

anyhow Doctor said well since you have been having pain in your other joints too I want a full body bone scan. I was like "yes"

So I was just wondering if other chronic lyme patients have had it done and what their results may have shown???

I have met some young people (30's and 40's)
who have bone density scans which turn up osteoporosis. They also have lyme. There must be a connection.

proudpup,

I had a full body bone scan done a long time ago. Hmmm... maybe in '97.

Anyway, what it showed were places where bone was damaged? There were glowing hot spots where there were changes to the bone.

My A-C joints (Which I knew had bone loss from x-rays) glowed really bright.
the front edges of my pelvic bone
some joints in my right foot (worst was the joint that gets bunions)
certain joints in my hands

Anyway, my head wasn't part of the deal but sure would have liked to see what this jaw looked like. I'd also like to have another done and compare, no insurance these days , though.

This is completely different than a bone density scan. I had one of those last year and that was fine.

Hello, I have had several bone scans of my knees, hands, and whole body. I had the whole body one last. A couple months ago.

I am only 15 and don't know if I have Lyme but it showed 'activity' in my wrists and feet. He said if I were 10 years older it would be carpal tunnel. But, he said since I am not, he would 'guess' it to be growth plates.

But, HELLO, I am not really gowing anymore. I am 5' 4" 5'5" somewhere in there. And I already hit my growth spurt. We thought it was carpel tunnel, but he's the specialist!!!

I think you said your husband was having it(?), have you or him ever had one? Or do you know how they do it?

Good luck! And us know what it shows!
