Many people have been getting the viral emails in the past few weeks about how the FDA is supposedly taking away alternative medicine. Many of us are completely skeptical that this is actually so, and think that the email campaign is actually a fundraising tool for Rima Laibow of the 'Natural Solutions Foundation'.
Here's a really good, fairly neutral writeup about the issues and the people behind this email hysteria. It also includes quotes from and statements from members of naturopathic and other alternative medicine associations:
I totally agree, Maria. The claims made by the Natural Solutions Foundation (healthfreedomusa.org) were outlandish when I actually read the FDA propoased "Guidance" document myself.
We already know that the FDA is not a trustworthy organization, but "crying wolf" every time the FDA proposes ANYTHING is not productive.
I've stopped reading what the Natural Solutions Foundation is putting out.
And, yes, the link you posted helps "set the record straight" on this. Thanks for posting about it.

Thanks SOOOOO much for looking into this!
From the beginning, having the wrong link for the FDA documents to then having everyone go thru HER website to contact the FDA, to having everyone email HER and she would "be sure their comments got to the FDA," this looked more like an attempt to round up email addresses for her own mailings than something to truly help handle the ongoing attack on alternative therapies.
This CODEX thing is a ticking time bomb at this point, and dispersing the energies of lymies is not helpful (being polite, here).
Best,

never mind about NSF and who they are. Actually Rima Laibow did us all a huge favor, alerting us to this despicable guidance document, leaving the door open for the FDA to wriggle past DSHEA. With all of our protests there is an extension of the docket to may 27
