It has been awhile since I've posted but I have a new question.
After going through alot of different testing and most coming out fine, one just came back positive. I have ehrlichiosis. I haven't found alot of information on this and was hoping somebody here has some answers. Can you have alot of the same symptoms with this as with lyme?
My Dr. told me there is not alot known about ehrlichiosis so he is not sure how many of my symptoms will go away with treatment. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Dava

I personally do not know anything about it.

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this notorious co-infection. NOT fun, at all.
I was actually just doing a bit of snooping myself re: this illness, so felt like I could pass on some of the links that I found for good info.

Here's a short article that came today in my "lyme Times Sring 2007 edition" on Ehrlichia:
GENERAL INFORMATION:
While it is true that this illness can have a fulminant presentation, and may even become fatel if not treated, milder forms do exit, as does chronic low-grade infection, especially when other tick born organisms are present.
The potential transmission of Ehrlichia durning tick bites is the main reason why doxycycline is now the first choice in treating tick bitees and early lyme, before serologies can become positive.
When present alone or co-infecting with Bb, persistent leukopenia is an important clue. Headaches,myalgies, and on going fatigue suggest this illnss, but are extremely difficult to separate from the symptoms caused by Bb.
TREATMENT:
Standard treatment consists of doxycycline, 200 mg daily ofr 2 to 4 weeks. Higher doses,parental therapy, and longer treatment durations maybe needed based on the duration and severity of illness, and wheter immune defects or extreme age is present.
However, there are reports of treatment faulure even when higher does and long duration with doxy are given.
In such cases, consideration may be given for adding Rifampin, 600 mg daily, to the regimen. _________________________________________________________________________________
