For the life of me I can not figure out why I can have 2 good days followed by like 5 or more bad days???

Am I over doing on my good days?

Or is it just a typical lyme cycle?

Should not be complaining because at least now I have some good days but why does it has to be such a roller coaster.

I wish I could find a pattern & reproduce my good days more often.

Does anyone else go threw this?

Anyone know why these good days have to be followed by such bad days?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

Hi Dana...I dunno why?!!!

From the experts, we all know it's "cyclic" with a usual 4 week period but from my experience....overall, I do not respond so scientifically.

I'll have good and bad days seemingly at random,
but I'm trying to really explain to myself by keeping track EXACTLY why:

Some things are beyond my control:

1. Environmental Allergens (take benadryl, bummer puts me to sleep, so lose time and function)

2. Weather (pressure, dryness, cold, humidity, heat) Each one effects me differently and not always predictable.

3. Food Intake: somethings I am intolerant to but don't know and it's necessary to be diligent since food intolerances sometimes don't show up til 3 days later.

4. New medicine...sometimes allergic, sometimes not the right one.

5. My emotional state, stress (which is a catch 22 since limbic is infected so to some extent I can't be entirely in control of this especially when encephalopahy raises its hurricane head!

6. If I exercise

Oh I'm sure there's tons more! : )

I get about the same cycle, couple of good days followed by a week or so of gradually degrading days. It can vary, and I haven't been able to correlate any thing with it. Sucks!

I have good days and bad days and once a month I have several herx days that are really bad.

I plan for bad days, that way it's a pleasant surprise when it's a good day. I also try to rest a lot even if it's a good day so my body can channel that extra energy to healing.

But, yes, to answer your question. I have good days and bad days.

I'm on the roller coaster, too.

Some days the roller coaster is hourly, but more often it's 1 - 2 good days followed by 4 - 5 bad.

Like you, I think I may be overdoing it on the good days... but it's probably all the factors listed above.

Wish we could schedule around the good days, but they're not always predictable! Makes them all the sweeter when they arrive...

I notice I herx when I over do and if I do not drink enough water. Water is really important while on meds and always.

I usually find this is from what is sometimes called the "push/crash" cycle. We feel good so we try to fit in all those things we haven't been able to do, usually overdoing it.

What I have found helps is to limit my exercise, since I know it's a cause for me, also limit my standing.

For a long time my body told me I had to sit or lie down. Now I can stand longer without feeling the symptoms, but the next day I'm wiped out. If you have orthostatic intolerance this could be a cause.

Keeping a log of activities and how you feel can help you pinpoint if you are overdoing on your good days and then ending up in bed afterwards.

Right now I'm in a down cycle, and it's too soon for a herx, but I realized I had not been taking one of my meds for orthostatic intolerance, (POTS in my case) for several days, if not over a week.

My BP was low earlier this week, which is another clue. I believe this med has a long half-life, so it's probably been over a week I've been without it.

I just moved for the second time in three months and it's really getting to me this time. I hope to be able to dig out soon!

Interesting...I also notice a MAJOR difference if I don't drink enough water with lemon. Pretty much night and day. Ultimately I need about 2L/ day.

Otherwise the roller coaster is...hourly at worst; 1/4 days at best [dizzy]

If anyone is on a roller coaster it is me!

I am in my 4th month of ABX treatment with my LLMD and it has been really ROUGH! I can be driving a car and go see a friend then the next day I can be in the ER room! I herx constantly and I also have even bigger herxes in cycles about once a week and then I have the good ole' 28-35 day herx cycle! The roller coaster ride is very typical of all lyme patients and hopefully this ride will stop sometime!

Ahh, RollercoasterRUs!!!

Very good day, followed by #(%&^@.

I keep a daily log now. Doing the Buhner herbs, I find I'm having more good days and fewer horrible ones. But, keeping a log--I use one of those day at a time calendars--helps me keep things in perspective regarding overall trend.

Best,

Cass A
