I got a new bite a couple of days ago. This was a small engorged tick....must be a nymph. It's only about 2 mm wide.
The rash enlarged from 1" to 3" diameter circle...just red. I'd go to Urgent Care, but doubt they'd recognize this as an EM, since it isn't a bulls-eye pattern. Of course it's the weekend...
I took photos of the attached tick, removed it, then put an acitvated charcoal patch on it. That was 2 days ago. It had not spread yesterday morning, but by last night was 3" diameter.
You can't tell it's a tick in the photos..too much light & poor resolution. It just looks like a mole in the photo.
I put the tick in the refrigerator in a plastic bag with a little moist paper towel.
Should I run all over town trying to find someone willing to assess this as an EM?
I have a CDC positive Western blot IgM.

up again for the experts. Would like to hear more about this, since we're still getting tick bites here.

Hi! I am by no means an expert here, but we just went through this with my husband.
Local doc wouldn't see him so he went to an urgent care near his work.
He didnt bring the tick with him but gave the details about the bite [when, where, etc]
They were hesitant on giving him antibiotics and said they didn't think it was a Lyme rash.
He told them that a friend that has Lyme said the rash was a concern.
Also that he had been treated for Lyme before with the same looking rash and the flu syptoms.
They gave him the 2 week doxy and of course to follow up with a local.
Don't know if that will help you, but thats what we went through.

Hi KS mom, thanks for letting me know what your husband did...you know to get at least 6 to 8 weeks of doxy at higher than normal doses, right?
I hope you have a LLMD and get the right treatment soon for your husband. Don't wait. 2 weeks only covers 1/3 of the organism's life cycle, so it's useless.
I'm on babesia medicone now, so don't know if I should add some doxy too.
I'm no doctor. Don't take this as medical advice. Seek the advice of a Lyme literate physician.
