Hi,

I told him what you said and he's calling his dr. right now. He doesn't have the tick anymore--it's gone. If his dr. won't work with him, he can see my LLMD. I"m sure he will help him. But, that's such a big expensive. It would be better if his dr. just wrote a proper script.

This is definitely a case where "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!!!!"

Reports & studies show bb in the cns within hours of tick exposure. For this reason alone I would not take less than 300mg. It takes at least 300 mg to cross the BB barrior.

I only weigh 95 lbs but have taken 400 mg a day for several years at no real side effects other than some mild nausea.

200mg is bacteriostatic, not bacteriocidal. At least 400mg is needed and I agree with three or four months - just make sure he's careful in the summer sun.

knowing what i know now, i would take it for atleast 4 months like everyone says.

but honestly i would take it for a year just to make sure it is gone. But unless you have acne or an LLMD a regular dr wont prescribe for that long.

So 400mg for as long as his dr will prescribe.

200mg Doxy is probably just enough to scare the little buggers into hiding. Just enough to let them creep throughout your body to all parts including the brain.

200 doxy-Just enough for you to become familiar with all the specialists in your insurance network-the gastroenterologist,neurologist, urologist, opthamologist, psychologist,dermatologist, endocrinologist, rheumotolgist.

Treating lyme with 200 mg for 28 days - just enough to make sure you're bankrupt and on disability in no time.

Then again-you could go to an LLMD. One stop shopping you might say. Eliminate the middle man-it will save you a lot of time, money and heartache in the long run.

200mg for 28 days????? for what? Certainly NOT lyme disease.

I was initially prescribed 200 mg of doxy a day by a duck.

All it seemed to do is "mask" my symptoms slightly.

I herxed for the full 30 days of 200 mg of doxy.

The most I've taken was 300mg a day, but I only weighed 127lbs when dx.

Now, I weigh 108.

My husband, who weighs 160 lbs took 400 mg a day.

Of course, he was dx about 5 months after me and was able

to benefit from all of the mistakes the ducks made with me.

He also has only seen our LLMD for this....

It was bad enough that I had to be tortured by those ducks.

For a tick bite it is 400 mg per day of Doxy for 6 weeks. Co-infections must also be addressed!
200 mg is the wrong dose!

Hi,

I just found out he's taking 100mg. He said he feels 100% better. When he got the script, he loaded up and took 400 mg in less than 24 hours, maybe that jump-started him to getting well.

I told him if he gets flu-like symptoms then he should take more, or if his antibiotic has run out that he should get another script.

He was going to see my LLMD--he called to set up an appt., but the cost was SO prohibitive. I sure wish LLMD's weren't so expensive. I really think some of them gouge us--not all, but some, do. it's tough to see an LLMD for $300+ dollars when you can see your GP for $50-75. Granted, there is a WHOLE WORLD of difference, but still!

kay, you talked about the $300 cost for our MIDWEST LLMDS!

i'd hate to be on the east/west coast with their being from $650 - $750 some PER HOUR!

It's outrageous, isn't it!!!!

I wish there were some way to slow down the cost. I really doubt (most of) the drs. are hurting financially & have to charge that much.

My Duc was shocked when I told him I took more than 200mg of Doxy a day, FOR ANYTHING. More shocked than WHERE I told him I got it from.
