I keep reading about all these adults with scary herxing reactions to antibiotics.

We are very very new to the whole lyme thing with my 8 year old son with autism.

Whenever he has gotten an antibiotic, like Septra, he just shows almost immediate improvement - no herx reactions that I can see. I mean it takes about 3 days, and we see all these gains:

Better eye contact
Better language
Better cognition

I do not really notice any lethargy, headaches, or malaise of any sort. He just seems normal physically. But the improved neurological changes are marked.

Anyone ever heard of this? Makes me think it is not killing lyme, but acting in some other way???

i wouldnt be too worried.

i think all lyme patients are different.

i have bad neuro lyme and have not ever had horrible herx reactions, but i can see a "difference" (good or bad).

for some encouragement, my dad had lyme. he started to get brainfog as his primary symptom.

he started biaxin and 6 months later was fine, with only 1 herx he wasnt even sure WAS a herx.

i think the important thing is getting better, and if i dont herx to get better, thats fine with me.

herxing is seen as a sign of improvement to many lyme patients, but not all have the same severe reactions. it also depends on where you are with your treatment and/or lyme and coinfection/s progress.

good luck to you

Even with chronic long-term (10+ years) untreated Lyme, I mostly just improve with little herxing, if any. God has been very gracious to me and allowed me to continue with a relatively normal life throughout treatment.

If he's improving, that's what matters! [Smile]

That is what happened to me on herbs. Almost no herxing ever.

Just big improvements after just a few pills.

I have had lyme disease for 43 years before I found out what was wrong and started treating it.

I have been on treatment for 8 months and have not had a herx.

Yes if you are carrying a low load of spirochetes and your immune system has held them down.
