Several months ago, I began to get a deep burning sensation within my hips. It would be extremely uncomfortable when I would weight lift, which is the reason I have stopped that activity. However, I still feel the sensation come and go, even when I am not taking part in any physical activity. I had an MRI done on my lower back, which showed nothing significant. Neurologist ruled out my lower back for the cause. I have also noticed fatigue set in when I experience this sensation. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you think it is lyme related? If it is lyme related, what can help, as this has stopped me from excercising due to the pain and discomfort.

Baron, I don't know if this is the same thing or nt. But I used to wake up with a burning feeling going down my hips. It didn't seem to matter if
I was laying on that side or not, it would just feel like a burning pain for a couple minutes. And it seemed like if it happened once the whole
night I'd wake up to this.

Lisa, it's hard to say, considering that the sensation is so strange I have difficulty putting it in words. It would just be reasurring to know that others who have lyme had a similar experience so I know I am not alone. Just this afternoon, I went for a short walk, which caused this sensation to flare up, with excruciating pain and burning which shot down from my hips to my feet. I have tried taking OTC anti-inflammatory medications, but they have done nothing. This symptom is extremely discouraging.

I know exactly what you are talking about. When I walk for any distance at all I get that burning in my hips. I have to stop for awhile until it quits then I can walk a ways again.
I don't know if it has anything to do with the lyme disease or just my not being very active any more.
Nothing I take seems to help with it. Physcial theropy is the only thing that ever helped me with it.

Dear Baron,
Last summer, prior to going downhill rather quickly,
My initial joint affected was my right hip.
Excrutiating pain that would wake me up at night.
Had difficulty walking during the day.
Of course, I just wrote it off as a kind of "joint flu" which my neighbors said they had.
Now I know better. My neighbors with the "joint flu" have Lyme.
I have Lyme...
This area (right hip) along with my fingers have been my most constant joint pain areas.
Have you thought about being tested for Lyme?
It couldn't hurt, and may give you the answers you need to pursue the right treatment.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Hugs,
Geneal

Geneal, I tested positive for lyme through IGenex Western Blot.
