I recently underwent a Persantine stress test, and my cardiologist (who is not particularly Lyme Literate, although I trust her) has recommended that I have a "64 slice cardiac CAT scan" done at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).

Unfortunately, HUP has a terrible reputation in the Lyme community, and some say it should be avoided at all costs. Most people would say that the HUP staff is firmly in the Alan Steere camp.

I have had 2 experiences with them already, both negative. First, I had a SPECT brain scan done at HUP. The results were negative. As a result, I was not diagnosed properly for another 2 years. Two subsequent SPECT brain scans at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in NY were both positive. Turns out, the SPECT brain scanner at HUP that is used for patients has only two heads, whereas Columbia-Presyterian's has three.

I had an eye exam at their very prestigious eye clinic at Penn Prebyterian. Although I had a wonderful Blue Cross indemnity insurance plan at the time, the billing was a nightmare.

I live in Philadelphia, but am willing to travel within 200 miles of Philadelphia.

Sorry FOX, i dont know of one. Have you looked into jefferson?

Are you trying to determine if lyme or infection is the cause? I know HUP isnt the best(putting it midly) about lyme, but could you just use their machines for the test?

I did this for my recent MRI, never mentioned lyme at all, but know HUP has probably the best machines in the area.

Im in the philly area, went to a penn immunologist, who treated me very arogantly and i didnt even mention lyme at all, but he couldnt figure out all my symptoms. The endocrinologist was concerned, but admited couldnt find one thing that linked all my symptoms together. The resident mentioned lyme, but that it could not be causing everything.

Thing that got me is these dr wont even work together to try to help a patient, like immunology consult with endocrine. Its a joke. Its a teaching hospital afterall.

Im sorry you are going thru this, i really really feel for you.
