Lyme disease may be the fastest growing infectious disease in the U.S. yet each year, thousands are misdiagnosed. Many don't look ill, but suffer from crushing pain, numbness, and fatigue. Others lose mobility, memory and even speech. Why are physicians so unaware of classic Lyme symptoms and the true extent of the epidemic? Once diagnosed, why are so many doctors and insurers refusing to treat these patients?

In their upcoming documentary feature, Open Eye Pictures investigates the shocking human, scientific, and political dimensions of Lyme disease. As the film delves into the lives of those who have been inalterably changed by the disease, a haunting picture emerges of our health care system and its ability to cope with a terror hiding under our skin.

Good to see they're having another screening. I wish they'd have one closer to me. I'm also glad to see they're doing it at a hospital auditorium.

yes, i received this info directly from dr. j.

i sent open eye productions an email and the directory, ANDY, answered it himself! i'd gotten the dr. j announcement about this. he didn't know what i was talking about.

so i copied/pasted email to his!

also asked andy how much $$ are STILL NEEDED before they can get this aired nationwide!!

so far, didn't hear back from him later on.

i did ask him or kris kroft to post answers in ACTIVISM about film saying we've all been keeping our eyes/ears open to this coming OUR WAY. [Wink]

Greetings from Open Eye,

We're deep into editing, and the film is very powerful. It will definitely change the way the world views this disease. We can't wait to share it with everyone.

I'm not sure of the exact dollar figure of funding that we need, but we're entering the expensive part of production, where we need to hire outside contractors for sound editing, music, animation, and digital rights acquisition. So, every little bit helps.

We'll also be showing a new clip at the Hope to Heal conference in Reston, VA, so if you decided to attend this event, stop by and say 'hi."
