I haven't been on here for quite some time, but I've had Lyme now for 3+ yrs. and I've been on treatment for a while. However, I haven't built up to the required amt. of Flagyl my doc prescribed and haven't taken my meds like I should for the past week and a half. Anyway, I am having weird symptoms that resemble pregnancy symptoms. Like, nausea, sensitivity to smells, abnormal tastes, no appetite, etc. I had a tubal 8 months ago, and although it's not time for my cycle, I have tested neg. to early preg. tests. Has anyone had any of this before? I'm concerned b/c I can't keep blaming Lyme on everything all of the time, and I've never had nausea without being sick or pregnant before. I'd appreciate any feedback I can get.

Hi sebastian,

So sorry you are having these symptoms. It could be a herx, I had abnormal smells and no appetite with a herx, but the abnormal taste could be a sign of yeast also. Yeast will develop if your not taking enough probiotics while on abx.

When I had an awful taste in my mouth it was usually yeast for me. Nausea can be a sign of yeast as well.

I found I had to take a lot more probiotics that I thought previously. I hope you figure out exactly what it is and feel better.

I have nausea at least 4 out of 7 days of the week. It comes and goes during the day.

I haven't been treated yet (I go in July) so I have been thinking that it is the lyme b/c it is listed as a possible symptom.

I also feel that I have a strong sensitivity to smell or smell things differently than others (if that makes sense???!!!)

I would get it checked out.

I have lyme and have lived with chronic nausea for almost 2 years now! Nausea is one of the worst symptoms on this earth... When I herx the nausea gets worse, then it comes back down after the herx.

Those are all symptoms that I've had off and on for years and I consider them part of my illness - lyme or co-infections. Treatment has made the nausea so much worse.

Hope you feel better soon.

Could easily be babesia.

The following signs/symptoms may be present in those infected with Babesiosis:
Fatigue*
Arthralgias*
Myalgia*
Drenching sweats*
Headaches*
Emotional lability*
Depression*
Dark urine*
Splenomegaly*
Dizziness*
Nausea and vomiting*
Cough*
Dyspnea*
Fever*
Chills*
Hepatosplenomegaly*
Jaundice*
Malaise*
Shortness of breath*
Bleeding tendencies,
bruising*
Thrombocytopenia*
Hemoglobinuria*
Hyperesthesia*
Pulmonary edema*
Encephalopathy*
Low to normal range leukocyte counts*
Possible elevated levels of dehydrogenase, bilirubin,
transaminase*
Anorexia*
Approximately 25%- 66% of Babesia patients are known to be co-infected with Lyme disease. These symptoms may continue for long periods of time, decrease, then return. A low Babesiosis titer (IgG) often indicates a chronic infection.
An acute or current infection may show a higher reading on the IgM test initially. There are over 100 species of Babesia in the United States but only ONE or TWO species are currently checked by commercial labs.

You know, I didn't even consider yeast. I haven't been taking my probiotics like I should, but partly b/c I haven't been taking my antibiotics like I should lately. I will step-up my meds and see if it helps. It would explain all of the discomfort I've been having after eating. I get a full feeling and indigestion with belching and bloating. I had this before without the nausea back before I got diagnosed. Thanks everyone!!

I have occasional nausea, which has been getting better with
treatment.

Ginger has been very good at getting rid of nausea for me.
I take ginger capsules if I have a problem, or drink ginger tea.
Either one works. Hope you feel better.

Flagyl made my husband very nauseated and sick feeling, so much so his LLMD took him off it.
Take care.
