I definitely have yeast issues in my gut. Oil of Oregano did nothing. Diflucan made me feel toxic and gave me a BAD taste in my mouth, (think it messed up the liver a little)
The Caprylic Acid I just purchased gave me a weird vertigo type feeling after I first took it, and then my head cleared and my skin and sinuses felt BETTER.
Of course this was a tiny herx. The more I take, the more I herx. This is hitting the strain of Candida that I have.
I hoping this will help clear my mold sensitivities too!
Ive been taking psyllium and broccoli to clean up. Still worried about metals, but the yeast needs to go, even if its temporary. Ill take ANY improvement.
The antibiotics I'm taking for lyme just kept messing me up more and more at lower and lower dosages.
I just read that In the presence of Yeast, the anti-biotics actually oxidize and cause further problems.
What also SHOCKED me that I read in a book today is that yeast is Alkaline. So anything that when we kill it, our systems become more ALKALINE which further encourages the growth of this shtuff.
Amazing. I hoped to never learn through pain, but a lesson is a lesson forever.........

Glad you found something that is helping.

If you have mold sensitivities, you really need a biotoxin binder. I'm sounding like a broken record - sorry about that but I really think biotoxins are a big factor for many of us.
Read the mold warrior if you haven't already.

Your not sounding like a broken record.
We need to hear things again and again.

I think I read online once that when you have yeast problems you are suppose to eat more acid foods then alkaline. Does anyone know if this is true or myth?

My brother is a chemist. He told me yeast/fungus forms in an acidic environment. Yeast is highly acidic. It is important to raise your pH to normal 7.0. You should check your saliva and urine pH every day.

I have read a lot about acid/alkaline and have never read that fungus or mold grow in an alkaline environment but rather an acidic one.
My doctor stresses the need to stay alkaline.

I googled caprylic acid and really couldn't find any contraindications of it's use
Any any other meds...
Does anybody know of any?
I am battling with thrush....Diflucan doesn't seem to be getting rid of it.
Diet has been very restricted.
Also, how much do you take?
I weigh 105 lbs or less now.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hugs,
Geneal

I was reading a book in a health food store and it said in this book that yeast is alkaline.
Which is it?

Im beginning to think that now my problems are mostly yeast related and not lyme.
My latest IGINEX came back all negative, only one band equivocal. LLMD said this wasnt a Lyme band.
I still herx on zith though... Mycoplasma?
I never get lots of gas and bloating with this yeast though. Only when I eat cream of wheat. Then I get really sick.
Denial is not good. Let us not deny what needs to be addressed.

Lymeherx....YOur topic title makes it sound like Caprylic acid CAUSED your yeast problems.
About that cream of wheat...Have you tried a gluten free diet???
You may find, as I did, that a lot of pain and fatigue were also associated with ingesting gluten.
Keep working on that diet!! Posted by lymeHerx001 (Member # 6215) on :
From what Ive read over and over and over again,
This is a symptom of DIE-OFF!
I know It didnt cause my problems because when the herx cleared I felt BETTER.
My skin felt cool and comfortable, some of my smell returned, my mood was better ...etc.
I looked at the Gluten free diet and I dont eat any gluten. Since gluten is in grains, I dont have any.
I live off broccoli and eggs. This is how severe my diet has become.

I just noticed again that right after taking the Caprylic Acid my sinuses feel different. Kind of better actually.
Why is this? How can the yeast in our gut relate to our sinuses. Or is the Caprylic acid really reaching my sinuses.
questions.

Im bumping this for JJ and for all who dont know.

LymeHerx,
Honestly I don't know how the sinuses and the yeast and the caprylic acid all tie together.
But I think that caprylic acid improves microcirculation (???) and it stimulates (as in irritates) the body, sometimes kicking in the immune system, etc. [Brain doesn't feel that 'with it' today, sorry if I got some of this wrong!]
So, if you are going to research it more, I would look at those things.
Glad it gave you some relief. I would keep using it. But don't overdo with too much too fast! Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Cream of Wheat contains gluten.
I used to take caprylic acid. Good choice!

Your sinuses are made out of the same type of tissues that your intestines are; epithilium.
Therefore your intestines are in communication with your sinuses, whats in your sinuses can go into your intestines and it is my belief that if your intestines are not healed that it will prevent the sinuses from healing.
I feel that my sinuses are reacting to everything and they feel very hollow like there is tissue in there that needs to grow back, however, they have felt this way for years. Allthough I also have had yeast for years and lyme too! So anything is possible.

I didn't know that. That is interesting. I'd like to know how the caprylic acid works out for you in the long run.
