I have been pulsing low dose zithro for a month now and am having a harder time on it than the other antibiotics...
I was wondering if this is typical of other patients on here?
It seems to be constant herx and they last longer and are rougher as well, could it be because it is designed to stay in the body for a long time compared to the other ABX???

Hi Bryon,
I pulsed low dose zithromax for about two years with good results. ( I pulsed it with Malarone and Plaquenil) I did herx alot. There were times I did have to take breaks from even the low dose pulsing, but in the beginning if I missed a week my anxiety would come back full force.
My LLMD told me sometimes you have to find the right abx combo. Maybe it is not a good abx for you? Or maybe you need more detoxing? I don't know, I am not a doctor just a fellow lyme patient.
I am sorry you are having a hard time with it.

Hi,
My experience with IV zithromax has been pretty good. I did have a time when my serum level got too high because of an interaction with another antibiotic so I had side effects but otherwise it has been one of the better abx's for me. No major herx just seemingly steady improvement. I will add, that different abx's work for different folks. I was on IV Rocephin for months which did NOTHING, same with oral ceftin and the tetracyclines. I guess the macrolide class works best for me.

Byron:
What is your dose and how often do you take it?
I am pulsing Zith every other day. I started at 125 mgs and am slooowly working up to 500 mgs. Can't say I feel great but, I do think it is working this time around.

I am taking 250mg once every 3 days... Might try to bump it up some because I am already about 100% bed ridden now...

Hey Byron
This is one of the No Pain - No Gain type problems-
You ARE going to get MUCH sicker before you get Better-- Herx --
3 yrs ago I was as sick as you and maybe sicker-- The High point of my day was taking a dump if I was Lucky --
Now I feel Perty Good most of the time and am starting to get My Life Back --
I did it with Zero pain killers-- Was NO Fun - Takes time -
I had No Idea that someone could be that sick and still be alive -
But so far its been worth having gone threw the treatment
You have to make up you mind that You are going to Do what it Takes to Get Better --
Its Not EASY --
If you have been sick very long -- getting well is like a Full time Job-
These are serious Germs and need to be treated as such --
