Hello everyone. I've been doing the research for Lymes----I'm not diagnosed yet. I've had the ELISA and it was neg. twice. I have a lot of symptoms and have seen several doctors. There is not much info out there on abdominal pain and Lymes I have a constant pressure feeling and get aching/pain on the right side of my abdomen. From the ribs down to the right lower quadrant. It feels at times like my intestines are spasming or tightening up----can anyone relate to this?
I've been thru all the GI work-up stuff. Colonoscopy,MRI,CT, liver enzymes ok. Appendix and ovary are gone, so is the gallbladder. yada, yada Any of you experience this. Thanks for any responses. Zil

You say your ovary is gone...is the rest gone as well? I only ask because I had a patient with endometriosis that experienced the same problems. Have you had an exploratory lap done?

Lymes and co-infections can cause bowel issues, I think. Let the other more familiar people on the board answer that for you as I am a newbie and have a lot to learn.

Good luck...hope you find an answer.

I had endometriosis also. I had a hysterectomy when I was 25 and am now, 53. So it's all gone. Zil

Hi zil, since you've had surgeries - do you have adhesions, or scar tissue from your prior surgeries? That can be very painful.

I've also had a hyst due to endo, and it is possible to have endometrial tissue outside of your uterus/ovaries that causes a problem even post-hyst.

Bartonella, a co-infection of Lyme, can also cause abdominal pain, I believe.

Your symptoms sound similar to some that I experience on a fairly regular basis, but I've yet to discover the exact cause... sorry I can't be of more help...

My first thought was mittelschmirtz but since you have no ovaries that is out. Endo can also be found in the perioneal cavity, that is why I asked if you have had a exploratory lap....that is what came to my mind.

Look up the barts info, see if it fits.

i had this symptom during the acute onset of lyme.
i suspect though, my problems are just as much attributed to babs & bart.
i feel your pain, it is NOT a fun symptom.
take care, and i would pursue a lyme test thru igenex or mdl. ruling out lyme initially is important.

i call mine abdominal but it's really under the left rib.

boy, talk about painful. i understand but haven't found anything that helps yet.

This has been a symptom of mine from the very beginning. It's miserable.

I also have had every GI test performed known to man. I checked out normal, except for being diagnosed with gastroparesis. That can cause pain, but I have a lot of pelvic pain which is unrelated to that. That remains a mystery.

I hope you find relief. Next month I'm having botox injections done through an upper endoscopy to relax the muscles in my stomach. This should help with pain, constant nausea, and acid reflux.

I have noticed the abdominal pain isn't as constant as it once was after being on abx for awhile. So good luck, and I feel for you.

I had HORRIBLE abdominal pain from Lyme at onset- knifelike GI pains as I developed "Irritable Bowel Syndrome" and also horrible spleen agony which went away when I was treated for Babesiosis- The GI stuff was just gut wrenching agonizing stuff- felt like someone had a fork in my intestines and was twisting them tightly- ugh!!

Thanks for your responses. Sorry to hear about the gastroparesis and botox injections on top of it. Hope you get some relief. A fork twisting the intestines sounds about right.
I have a lot of tingling in my extremities, chills and I will have a tingle accompanied with a chill sensation--- like sensations across my thigh or lower leg, weird stuff, it's just areas of my body--even my scalp and not total body chills. My tongue has a burning sensation. I have a lot of other symptoms and I think the Dr's think I'm a mental case. My biggest problem is exhaustion. I am soooooo tired all the time. Some days I don't even get out of my pajama's. If I have to get gtoceies or go for a Dr's appt. I am wiped out/feel bad. I don't have a life. I really appreciate the suggestions on Dr's. I've been to a lot of Dr's and testing for Lymes isn't one of there thoughts. My PCP did an ELISA and it was negative. He won't go with any further testing. Will Igenex send the supplies to you directly or your Dr? zil

Could be Lyme or bartonella. GI can be associated with bart I've heard.

I agree with Penn 92, bartonaella can cause abdominal pain. I have never tested positive for bartonella but after being treated with a course of levaquin to target bartonella the abdominal pain went away.
Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
