It is my understanding that Babesia requires oxygen for growth. But wht about Bartonella?

Hi Seibert,

I have bartonella and I use HBOT. I did treat the bartonella and believe that it does help me.

I do not have the neurological setbacks, tremors, headaches, bitting that I once had.

However, I do notice that if I do not use the chamber within about a month I do start getting achy in the joints. Other than that the pain is pretty much gone.

Hope this helps [hi]

although some patients have had success with HBOT the jury is still out!

Some of us get better and some don't....

when we find out why that is we will find out a whole lot....

like which bugs like and dislike oxygen....

I personally like it....it helps me live...and if I have to share a little with ole bugaboo....well so be it!

Bea, I don't know but I did find this reference in " Growth Characteristics of Bartonella henselae "

"The closely related pathogen B. quintana was cultured in BBH-H under aerobic and microaerobic conditions. Interestingly, B. quintana did not grow in 21% O2 but did grow in 7% O2."

Also:
B. henselae growth was unexpectedly sensitive to the pH of the medium, and optimal growth occurred over a very narrow pH range (pH 6.8 to 7.2).... Growth rates under acidic conditions began to decrease at pH 6.6. The growth rate of B. henselae was >6 h at pH 7.4, and no growth was observed at pH 7.6 or more (data not shown).

Minoucat,

Interesting post. Does this mean that if you can make your system more acidic it will help get rid of the Bart?

Julia,

Did you find the chamber to be uncomfortable.....like in terrible ear pressure and popping?

I guess you feel that HBOT is beneficial?

Thanks.

Hi Boomerang,

For the most part my husband dives me and I do everyone else. For me it is very important that the sessions are well tolerated.

So if I have someone with a problem with their ears I give them ear plugs.

If you or your husband is having too much ear pain ask the tech to slow down the descent. Sometimes it makes all the difference.

I have two monoplace chambers they are acrylic (clear) hulled. So for me they are comfortable.

Kindly,

Julia

Hmmm, I wonder if this is why I feel something is reproducing in my mouth whenever I try to gargle with hydrogen peroxide. Am I giving my babs oxygen to grow???

By the same token, I could potentially be eradicating some of my 'bugs' with my oxygen-killing cigarettes. Do you think? Or am I pushing it here? [Wink]
