I always hear that sugar is bad with the lyme treatments. Why???

Do a search.
I get stabbing burning pains from sugar.
Let me ask you a question.
If after having a bowel of ice cream a man came over to you took off your shoes and took out a big knife and slowly cut down the center off each foot, then put salt on the wound, then put a tight sock on each foot and then put back on your shoes, would you then think twice about eating that ice cream?
Welcome to my life. That's just the beginning

Sugar is poison.
Sugar feeds cancer cells.
Sugar feeds yeast.
Sugar depresses the immune system.
Eliminating sugar from your diet will cause you to feel better.
Don't use the synthetic sugars like Equal, Splenda, Nutrisweet etc to compensate as they have all been proven to increase your blood sugar much like regular sugar and this is why people continue to gain weight even when using these sugar substitutes.
Use Stevia. It is a natural herb and is sweeter than sugar. It does taste different and you will need to get used to the taste. My husband, who is very difficult about trying anything new now loves Stevia and uses it exclusively. He has become more regular in his bowel movements and credits the Stevia which has fiber. (I personally think it is the better diet he has adopted since I had to switch to whole foods, but he credits Stevia)
Stevia does not increase your blood sugar and is safe for diabetics.

I was prescribed xylitol by my LLMD for sinus/ear/balance problems. It's still refined from food sources but it is supposed to have the opposite effects of sugar. I love it. Has anyone else tried it?

I have never tried xylitol, but thanks for sharing that...Stevia is way too sweet for me!
I ADORE sugar and had a rough time giving it up until with time eating it just made me feel drugged as soon as I had a tiny bit.
Between the drugged feeling and how every joint would start to ache, it was no longer worth it.
I heard the spirochetes LOVE sugar--which explains the symptoms flaring...and also it's why I'm not going to make the little jerks happy!!

Sugar also feeds candida. Candida overgrowth can have similar symptoms to Lyme Disease, so it will get to the point where you don't know whether it's candida or Lyme making you sick.
Systemic candida is difficult to eliminate.

I dont know whether its candida or Lyme thats making me sick.
I have severe reactions to all the foods that feed candida.
My LLMD says that lyme lives in the gut and this is why. I think he is ignorant.
He keeps saying that GAS is number one complaint from people that have candida, is this true?

I don't eat sugar or too many vcarbs because I get horrible yeast infections. Thrush, intestional yeast ect.. Bb thrives on sugar .So not only are you feeding the yeast you are feeding Bb as well.
I use xylitol too. It does gives some people GI symptoms if taken too much of it. I limit myself to 1 tesp max a day. here's a link on xylitol:
Read the newbie links in the top here in medical. There is a ton of information on yeast & candida problems. Look for the little cartoon of the digestive track.
