I was on a one-week course and on my 5th and 6th day started getting bee sting feelings on skin, prickly itchy migrating feeling and on/off burning skin and then last night the bottom half of my right calf felt a bit achy and now that ache is travelling up the back of my right leg, reminiscent of very mild sciatica. I am not even sure that it is a tendon, but it's whatever starts at the back of the bottom of the calf muscle and goes up the back of the leg. But, whatever it is, it is aching.
My GP is on vacation. My LLMD is off for the weekend. I have not taken a Cipro for 24 hours now and don't intend on taking any more.
The insert says to seek "immediate" medical attention of you get tendon pain.
I don't know what to do. I wouldn't describe what I'm experiencing as pain, more a niggling ache. I would feel stupid going to ER about it.
Does it just go away with stopping the treatment if it is only very mild? I mean, I assume it is not going to get WORSE since I've stopped taking the med?

When I got prescribed levaquin, which is a quinolone drug as cipro, I was told that when developing tendon pains to stop it for a couple of days till the pain goes away and then go back on the abx.
It happenned to me at the same place you are describing.Sometimes I even couldn't go down the stairs.
It sounds like side effects( the tendon pain) with herxing (the other sx besides the tendons)
About your skin I had a similar reaction too.

It's definitely my tendon as it's now burning and painful right in the tendon above my right heel. Don't think it's a herx.

Yeah liver,
Cipro is a definite fleuroquinalone that will affect your tendons....
If you stop the pain will go away....it's just one of the side effects we have to endure because the ducks are too dumb to know about them!

Caution - this warning comes from Dr. H. in Hyde Park: "there are reports of tendon problems/rupture with this class of antibiotics. If you experience any unusual tendon pain, worsening of symptoms, or new symptoms ... contact our office."

After three weeks of Cipro, I developed tendonitis. I had to stop it.
