hi, I am wondering if anybody has experienced chronic dry/sore eyes also painful eye balls. condition is very similar to sjogren's disorder/disease..
Ive had lymes since 1993
all the other typical symptoms have been with me at fairly regular intervals ...ie, sore glands/lymph nodes, bladder/prostate problems, heart pain/palpitations, pelvis/rib cage pain, lower back pain/stiffness, upper back shoulder blade discomfort and burning sensations, cold/hot sensations in legs
there is no let up on the eyes condition

any help would be appreciated

Echorox,

I have all those symptoms, except prostate issues, of course [Smile]

I definitely experience dry eyes. They feel scratchy and sometimes they're red. I used to wear contacts (got Lasik) and it was really uncomfortable. The optometrist said my eyes were very dry and he called it something. I also get floaters, blurry vision, and sometimes sharp shooting pains.

I've spent a fortunate on eyedrops! Dry eyes was one of the things that first sent me to the dr. (pre-diagnosis).

I had dry, irritated eyes and a really bad pain in my forearm that no one could find the cause of. I tested negative for Sjogren's, and then spent two years with pain progressing around my body until I was diagnosed.

I recently started taking Evening Primrose, two capsules three times daily. Not sure if it helps, as the dryness fluctuates, but sometimes it does seem to be better.

I have dry eyes.

I use refresh plus - which is over the counter eyedrops.

There is also a prescription that your eye dr could prescribe called restatis (the spelling is close but not exact sorry)

Have you been to the eye dr. even with the pain I would want my eyes checked out cuz lyme can effect the eyes.

I also have severly dry eyes. I use Systane, or replenish.

I also use a product called Liposic (I thinkg) that my opth. bring over from Canada. Perhaps it is available in the UK?

My opthalmalogist who sees a few of us Lymies said to me,

"All of my Lyme patients have dry eyes!"

A word of caution about Restasis.......it is an immunosuppresant which means if any of the Tick Borne Diseases are in your eyes they will be having a hayday with your immune system suppressed in your eyes.

Also before I knew this, I was given it, tried for a couple of days and ended up with a raging eye infection that has been a bugger to get rid of. It has leterally been monnths and we are going to have to culture it I suspect.
