Does anyone else get extreme mania attacks? Racing thoughts, can't sit still, rocking movements, etc. that go on for hours?
Is this more of a Lyme symptom or Bartonella symptom?
I'm having this every day, and feel like I'm going crazy. I would like to know whether others with this symptom found it improved more with Lyme treatment or Bart treatment.
And... did Ativan or Klonopin help with this?

I can get into lyme rages when in bad herx to th point of where I wanna break something... I have found mine has improved with lyme treatment but whenever I get a bad herx I kinda go through it... Posted by Lymeblue (Member # 6897) on :

Not sure but also think its a bart symptom but the racing thoughts & anxiety could very well be lyme too.
Ultram makes me much more manic so can't take much of it.
I have, over the years, evened out a bit with treatment.
hope you can even out too

ps: Low does valium does help in emergencys. I try not to take on a regular basis because it is habit forming & from what my docs have said told me can incress depression in long term use.

I know of people with Lyme who are being treated for Bipolar Disorder also. As the parent of an adult child with Bipolar Disorder I urge you to contact a medical professional for guidance on this.
It can so quickly go out of control, and you would be better served with true professional advice, even if it's just from your LLMD, for the moment.

forgot to ask are you in treatment yet or herxing?
Herxing can make the mania temporaily worse but then it will get beter.

No herxing, this is the major symptom...
I had some racing thoughts, anxiety, etc. from Lyme before but this is 100x that level and it is my major symptom now - far beyond any pain, fatigue, paralysis, etc.

I think if it is out of proportion to other symptoms (CNS symptoms, that is) then it is bart.

my manias lasted months and were triggered by antidepressants, alcohol and one was triggered by i don't know what.
anyone else have mania triggered by alcohol?
racing thoughts? yes i have had this a lot in my life and had it on IV rocephin. it's exhausting.

With doxy I get this along with suicidal thoughts and persistant thoughts of car accidents, bloody deaths,, other stuff that would be to graphic to explain here.
Its from brain swelling I think. Its terrible I know.

my daughter has bartonella. Been in treatment for two years. She started with psyche issues, and racing thoughts is sone of them.
Better with good antianxiety drugs and antibiotics
