Hello,
my doc put me on 3 weeks of 2x100mg doxy and I am taking my last pill today. I feel that I slowly improved during this period and if I stop taking it the bacteria will mutate, I will relapse or something.
Should I go to my doctor and express my concerns or should I wait and see what happens after I end the antibiotics?

My symptoms are all neuro...tingling, burning, twitching with eye pain and headaches and some stiff muscles.

If you still have symptoms, you should seek out an LLMD. Yes, in the mean time I would get your doc to give you further treatment if you can.

If your doc refuses, have it documented.

Yes, get in to see a LLMD! This is crucial to be treated by a LLMD over a GP or other...

I made good improvement my first month of treatment on minocycline with a couple MAJOR herxes but now I am on better/stronger ABX and they have been kicking my butt ever since!

At least 300 mg of doxy for a minimum of 6 weeks is recommended to prevent Lyme from recurring. Just read this here recently, not certain where.

What is it that a LLMD would do differenctly than my doctor?

Dr. Harris from Igenex sent an antibiotics "cocktail" suggestion to my doctor and he said he would try it if the symptoms came back. Now, from everything I am reading here I should not really wait for the symptoms to come back. They never went away completely anyway, I still have burning/tingling in my lower legs(less than before) and headaches, eyepains as well as twitches. On monday I will basically beg my doctor to put me on Dr. Harris's antibiotics.

If you still have symptoms you still have lyme disease. If it where me I would move heaven & earth to find a lyme literate doctor before the window closes.

I have neuro lyme & have been sick for 20 years & would not wish this disease on my worst enemy. It is a living hell. The crime of it is if I had stayed on the right dose - long enough 20 years ago I probably would have had a fantastic life.

take care
Dana

sorry here's the link on doxy:

thanks for the reply.

Dana, I am just wondering how did your neuro Lyme progress over those 20 years? Did it start anything like mine?
How long did you take antibiotics at first before stopping?

thanks.

HI Chamade

People can have just nuero. Lyme can settle in any part of your body & just be happy in one local. I have a friend in CT who has it just in his heart. Crazy disease. It can effect people so differently.

Here's a link on just neuro:

Hope this helps

See if your doc will give you another round... if he takes your insurance. Otherwise, you may want to start considering LLMD.

I have been to the doc and he gave me a prescription for 30 days(with 6 refills) of 2x100mg doxycycline (again). I asked him for 2x200mg and he said NO.

After reading everything here I almost want to take 2x200mg on my own, except the pharmacy won't give me refills until a few days before they are due...
