Does anyone have chronic ear aches? My ears feel like they do when I haave a cold/flu. They feel clogged and have pressure in them. One doctor saw the fluid in my eardrums and gave me mino and doxy for it and after 2 months of that, it had not improved at all...
Anyone in my boat? It's a party!

Yes, I get ear aches and sometimes the outside part of my ear will hurt also. Have you tried any allergy meds or decongestants, maybe that would help?
I hope you find something that helps and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Byron,
I've had ear pains and pressure the entire time I have had Lyme. Even though I am 90% better after two and half years of treatment the ear pressure is one symptom that just won't let go. I'm having the monthly flair this week and aside from some tiredness its the ear pressure and ringing thats the main problem.
So I'm in the same boat as you.

Yep, my ears were a constant problem. I now take Singulair in the morning, Allegra in the evening and Guafenasin (sp) morning and evening and my ears are 95% better now !!!!!! Give it a try.

I have it also, I believe it is a fungal infection.

Al, you could try a month of Diflucan if it actually is fungal. That might kick it (?).

Zithromax gave me ear problems. Could it be from the meds you are on?
Posted by Coyotecrazy (Member # 6707) on :
I could never tell that Zithromax did me any good at all. For me, Zithromax was a waste of money. In fact, I don't know anyone that has had a good result with Zithromax, even for infections other than Lyme. I think is a bogus drug .....

Byron, My doctor saw that I had fluid in my ears 6 months prior to my lyme diagnosis. None of the antibiotics have cleared it Ceftin, Zith, Doxy... I believe its the underlying cause of my balance issues too.

LuLuFlorida, that's EXACTLY what I think too!!! My ears got HORRIBLE but once they started to clear up, my 'dizziness/confusion' seemed to get much better too!!!
Hooray!
I don't want ANYONE to give up hope .... keep on 'plugging away' and try not to stop being active if at all possible. FORCE yourself to get up and do SOMETHING physical several times a day. That can keep you 'alive' until you come upon the correct treatment for you.
This site was incredibly helpful to me. Thank God for LymeNet and for all of you!!!

abx would not help me with this but one month diflucan did.
90% of sinus infecs are fungal...my ear pain usually starts soon after a sinus infec
my doc tried all kinds of abx and i would feel better for a week and then get it back-but the diflucan stopped it for about 4-5 months...then a close friend was sick and i cought it
the diflucan helped the first day..and i am about a week into it

I go tomarrow to have them looked at, they may drain my ears.... What does that mean?
